    Job Title: Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services
    Kent ISD, Full Time, Year Round
    Kent Intermediate School District Assistant Superintendents are responsible for implementing the district’s mission of partnering with our schools and communities to provide enhanced and equitable opportunities to enrich the experiences and achievements of our learners. As champions of the district’s strategic goals, the leadership team seeks to fulfill the organizational vision of building thriving communities through meaningful partnerships and equitable educational opportunities for all learners.
    General Responsibilities:
    Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services serves as the instructional leader for the District and will oversee several educational services within Kent ISD including early childhood, instructional/informational technology, school improvement, teaching and learning, and curriculum development. He or she will represent the Superintendent and acts as a liaison with various educational organizations and agencies. This leader is expected to develop relationships with various associations, interest groups, stakeholders and participate in Kent Intermediate Superintendents Association (KISA) to ensure their goals and objectives are implemented.
    Essential Job Qualifications Required:
    • Master’s Degree in education or related leadership field.
    • Minimum five (5) years successful experience in a local or intermediate school district is required.
    • Full approval as an administrator in the State of Michigan required.
    • Broad knowledge of organizational operations and policy; high level of discretion, integrity and organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to work with others and effective communication skills to communicate and facilitate School Board’s and District’s philosophy to the entire organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand and address individual student needs and provide leadership in diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated customer service and conflict resolution skills.
    • Ability to comprehend the sensitivity and dynamics of the organization's culture.
    • High degree of flexibility in order to achieve organizational objectives and meet its demands/needs
    • Principles and practices of assessment, curriculum, instruction, educational leadership, educational best practices in literacy, math, ESL, and special education.
    Key Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Facilitates the integration of all instructional services to meet the instructional mission of the district.
    • Leads the collaborative efforts in the design, implementation, and continuous evaluation of instructional programs.
    • Supports the collaboration between the department program directors and strategically works with the other Assistant Superintendents to ensure success of all students and families in the Kent ISD service area.
    • Works to execute the organization’s strategic plan in collaboration with the Superintendent and Leadership team.
    • Supervise staff, defining tasks to be accomplished, setting expectations for standards of performance, following district processes to ensure that the work of the district is accomplished and providing annual evaluation of staff performance.
    • Utilize data driven methodologies for gathering, analyzing, improving, and implementing best practice when making instructional changes.
    • Understands Board policies and rules, communicates guidelines inherent in those policies, and oversees the implementation of the policies for all assigned programs.
    • Engage in and provide leadership in fund development activities which enable sustainability of programs that support community needs.
    • Keeps self, staff and constituents abreast of current and future oriented education trends in pedagogy, curriculum, and school culture that will improve learning for all students.
    • Collaborates with national, state, and constituent district committees, councils, boards, advisory groups, and staff by sharing ideas, information and concerns and works to solve problems and identify and prioritize needs.
    • Serves in leadership, assistance, and/or support roles to committees, councils, boards, advisory groups and staff.
    • Assists in the development and preparation of grant applications and consortium arrangements.
    • Maintain an environment in which staff works with trust, integrity and responsibility to ensure that the district maintains a diverse, inclusive, dynamic environment that people seek to join.
    • Assists local districts with knowledge and interpretation of Federal and State mandates/legislation and provides technical assistance and training needed for local district compliance.
    • Oversees the preparation of reports, as required by local, state and federal agencies.
    • Acts as a liaison between the Michigan Department of Education and constituent districts.
    • Develops, manages and monitors budgets for instructional programs and services in collaboration with other Kent ISD administrators.
    • Embraces and supports Kent ISD and KISA vision for Equity and Student Success.
    • Provide leadership and foster continuous improvement of communications and collaborations with all Kent ISD stakeholders.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Regular face-to-face attendance required.

    Salary: Professional Salary Schedule, Grade 12, commensurate with education and experience
