DSP-Part time dayshift and some weekends

We are looking to hire direct support staff for a friendly outgoing young man with intellectual disabilities in the Harrisburg area to help him learn new life skills to increase his independence and engage in his community. The right person would be working both in his home and the community. In home, he would like to enhance his independence by learning tasks such as laundry, general housekeeping, money management and creating daily routines. In the community He would like to learn grocery shopping skills, participate in daily light exercise, increase his socialization skills, and is open to participate in fun community activities to increase socialization.

Interested applicants should be highly motivated and have experience working in direct support and experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities. The hours are part-time and very flexible. We are looking for 2-3 days a week dayshift and a weekend day for 3–4-hour shifts (maximum 10 hrs. a week) depending on the activity. The starting pay range is 16.00 – 18.00 an hour.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license/clean driving record
• Have access to a fully registered, insured and inspected reliable vehicle for use throughout work.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background screening.
• Experience working with intellectual disabilities.

Responsibilities include:

• Foster a safe and supportive environment to promote independence and wellbeing.
• Assist with teaching daily living skills such as laundry, cooking, general housekeeping, money management and creating routines to promote independence.
• Engage in recreational activities and community outings.
• Document and maintain accurate record of daily activities and progress.
• Work on assistance with meeting goals as outlined in the ISP.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 10 per week
