Innovation Associate, Impact Studios

Start Date: August 1st, 2022

Kent Denver’s Office of Innovation has an opening for a full-time Innovation Associate specializing in rapid prototyping equipment, fabrication, and maker-space management to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Innovation Officer, this position, supports, manages, and nurtures extraordinary experiences for students and faculty as they mentor and teach students, coach and partner with faculty in the Kent Denver Impact Studios.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Staff the two Kent Denver Impact Studios (our fabrication labs) as a part of an instructional support team that provides active and passive supervision and class partnership
  • Teach a Middle School Elective an area of fabrication, engineering, or related field
  • Develop and manage a repair and maintenance cycle for Impact Studio equipment
  • Contribute to the construction of a network of professional advisors and a database of community opportunities for Kent Denver students
  • Supervise pass/fail Innovation Workshops and Independent Studies in Innovation Area
  • Contribute expertise and passion to Office of Innovation and institutional projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have qualifications that include: a bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design Technology, or related field (required), ability to articulate the value of and advocate for the role of rapid-prototyping, engineering, and design education at the middle and high school level, comfort using rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, commitment to the belief that a diversity of perspectives is fundamental to the health, sustainability and effectiveness of a community, ability to meaningfully receive, reflect on and apply feedback to one’s professional growth, experience working in a maker space, an ability to thrive working as a member of a team, previous work in a school environment, ability to teach and mentor teenage students, excitement around collaborating with other teaching professionals, a growth mindset, demonstrated ability to manage and execute projects.

EMPLOYMENT

Work hours for this position are 7:30am-4:00pm, Monday through Friday with occasional evening, night, and/or weekend work. In addition to a generous benefits package including retirement, health, dental, and professional development, this position receives 5 weeks vacation (taken in late June and July), 2 weeks over the school’s winter break, 1 week spring break, all school holidays, and 2 personal days. The salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000.
