SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS EARN UP TO $206.77 A DAY!

Kenosha Unified is looking for individuals to join our team as substitute teachers for the 2023-24 school year.

This role affords you the ability to provide excellent, challenging learning opportunities and experiences to students in the

district. Individuals who have an associate degree or higher and desire a flexible schedule are encouraged to apply

Note:
Our pre-employment process requires applicants to submit official transcripts for their degree. Once you apply, you may want to request those documents from your school in anticipation of an interview and possible hire if you do not have them currently. Official transcripts are required.

Substitute Teachers can work full- or part-time based on their availability. During your interview we will discuss how substitute teachers locate positions and schedule their time.

If you do not have a Substitute Teaching license, the district will provide online training so that you may apply for one through the Department of Public Instruction. You do not need the license prior to applying.

SUMMARY: 

The substitute teacher replaces the regular classroom teacher in his or her absence by providing the same successful instructional and learning environment that would exist if the regular classroom teacher were in attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  1. Required –Associates degree
  2. Preferred – Bachelor Degree

 Certifications:

  1. Preferred – Wisconsin Substitute Teacher License, or Wisconsin Teaching license

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Confers with the office secretary upon arrival to substitute for the purpose of learning any additional duty responsibilities.
  2. Follows the procedures, rules, and routines of the school and the regular classroom teacher as described in building policy and substitute instructions left by the regular teacher.
  3. Follows the lesson plans left by the regular teacher.
  4. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the level being taught.
  5. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence as a substitute teacher.
  6. Maintains accurate, complete, legible, and correct records of substituting experience as requested by district or building substituting policy or handbook.
  7. Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  8. Conducts oneself in a professional manner.
  9. Maintains maximum supervision of assigned students at all times.
  10. Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, or parent/guardian in any public setting.
  11. Have mobility to reach various locations in a timely manner.
  12. Complies with all applicable laws, board policies, rules and procedures.
  13. Maintains a clean, neat appearance that is appropriate for the position.
  14. Conduct virtual instruction when required via virtual online instruction platforms such as Seesaw and Google Classroom.

SKILLS:

  1. Demonstrates appropriate use of written and verbal communication.
  2. Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills.
  3. Demonstrates classroom management strategies appropriate to the learning situation.
  4. The ability to address criticism in an appropriate manner and develop constructive outcomes.
  5. Possess group dynamics and interpersonal skills with both peers and students.
  6. Possess the ability to plan appropriate educational activities for students when there are no plans available or when assigned because of an emergency.
  7. Knowledge of using office equipment, such as copier, computer, etc.
  8. Ability to learn virtual instructions techniques used on platforms such as Seesaw, GoogleClassroom, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time; occasionally required to move about inside the office/school at different heights and levels; regularly required to communicate and exchange accurate information with administration, staff, and students; occasionally be required to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
