To achieve this goal, the tribe seeks to recruit and maintain a volunteer pool of dynamic and dedicated community members who are willing to devote their time to assist the tribe in providing exemplary services.
Wellness Opportunity
The Kenaitze Indian Tribe currently offers volunteer placement in the following programs:
The Wellness Program
The Wellness Volunteer will be assisting Wellness staff with putting arts and crafts kits together each month. Kits go to the Dena'ina Wellness Center (DWC) front desk, Na'ini Social Services, and are used for Monday arts and crafts at DWC, and Tuesday/Wednesday arts and crafts at Elders. Summertime volunteering may include assisting Wellness staff with facilitating arts and crafts activities with youth in our Education program or our Behavioral Health School-Based Summer program. Hours will be determined based on volunteers' availability.
Volunteer Requirements
All volunteers must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and TB test. Background check standards may vary between programs dependent on funding and grant requirements. For more information, please contact the Human Resources Department at (907) 335-7220.

About Kenaitze Indian Tribe
The Kenaitze Indian Tribe was federally recognized as a sovereign, independent nation in 1971 under the Indian Reorganization Act as amended for Alaska. Today, we have more than 1,600 tribal members who live across the Kenai Peninsula and beyond. We employ about 300 full-time and part-time employees. The tribe delivers a variety of programs and services that promote the wellness of our people and the community. In 2014, we opened the 52,000-square-foot Denaina Wellness Center, a fully integrated healthcare facility offering a wide range of services beneath one roof. At our Annual General Council Meeting every October, we elect members to the Executive Council to serve staggered terms. The seven-member Council governs the tribe in accordance with our constitution, by-laws, ordinances and resolutions. It appoints a Chief Judge to oversee Tribal Court and uphold tribal laws, as well as an Executive Director to manage the tribes day-to-day operations. Our funding comes from federal, state and private grants, as well as third-party revenue generated by our healthcare programs. Its been thousands of years since our people, the Kahtnuhtana Denaina, first inhabited the Kenai Peninsula. We call this area Yaghanen, the good land. After many challenges throughout the years, today we are proud to say Naqantughedu the tide is coming in. We say the tide is coming in because its an exciting time for the tribe and our people as we continue to work toward our mission: To assure Kahtnuhtana Denaina thrive forever.
