Kenai Peninsula Borough is Hiring a Recreation Supervisor - North Peninsula Recreation Service Area Near Kenai, AK

Under the general direction and supervision of the Recreation Director, the Recreation Supervisor is responsible for operation of Nikiski Community Recreation Center, programs, staff and assisting in supervising various activities and functions sponsored by the North Peninsula Recreation Service Area.

High school diploma or GED; Minimum of four years of experience in the recreation field including two years of supervisory experience. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. Must have current CPR and First Aid certificates or obtain within first six months of employment. Must have and maintain a valid, unrestricted Alaska driver’s license.

1. Develops, plans, organizes, implements and evaluates a variety of community services and recreation programs, including special events.

2. Identifies community needs and makes recommendations regarding appropriate programs related to assignment.

3. Establishes schedules and methods for providing recreation services, volunteer recruitment for programs and leagues, identifies resource needs; reviews needs with Director; allocates resources accordingly.

4. Supervises, trains an evaluates assigned staff. Schedules and coordinates staff schedules and training; implements disciplinary procedures when needed.

5. Responsible for operations of the Nikiski Community Recreation Center and ensures that the physical structure, equipment, programs and staff meet required standards, policies and rules.

6. Coordinates recommended purchases for equipment and supplies; maintains inventory. Identifies maintenance needs and recommends solutions.

7. Maintains the field markings and sports equipment for appropriate programs and sports.

8. Prepares community events and recreation publicity; coordinates the dissemination of recreation and community services publicly. Meets with public groups, clubs, organizations and agencies to promote community services and activities to encourage community participation.

9. Serves as a liaison with local schools to develop recreation programs.

10. Prepares reports; maintains files and records. Provides recreation reports to Service Area Board as requested from Director.

11. Participates in the preparation of the service area budget; submits budget recommendations; monitors expenditures and staff hours. Oversees collection of recreation user fees; records related statistics and reports on data as requested.

12. Works with the public, the Service Area Board and various borough departments as required.

13. May be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Service Area in the absence of the Director. May be responsible to fill in during board meetings in the absence of the Director.

Other Functions:

Performs other related duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear; stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally required to use hands and fingers dexterously to operate equipment and controls.
