Columbia law firm has an opening in its established tax controversy and tax litigation group. The firm represents individuals and businesses in complex civil and criminal tax cases. The associate will be involved in all aspects of administrative practice before the Internal Revenue Service and civil and criminal litigation, primarily in federal court. This position will involve defending serious disputes with the IRS, including criminal investigations, audits, collection matters, U.S. Tax Court litigation, and suits filed by the U.S. Department of Justice. Two years of experience in IRS administrative practice and procedure and/or federal tax litigation is preferred. This position requires excellent research and writing skills and the ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a full benefits package following completion of a 60-day probationary period. Bonuses are paid for billable hours and originations.
