Description

Functions:
Cashier: Receive cash from customers and employees in payment for goods or services and records the amount received in an accurate manner. Represent the Group in a friendly, professional manner. 
Responsibilities and Authority: 

• Receive cash, checks and credit card payments from customers and record the amount received.
• Operate cash register.
• Compute or recompute the customer’s bill using the Supercenter’s computer system.
• Make change, cash checks, operate credit card machine and issue receipts to customers.
• Ascertain and record totals shown on cash register tape and verify against cash on hand.
• Work with department managers to keep abreast of new products and services offered, their features and value, and any changes in price.
• Refer customers who have additional questions to the Manager or to other appropriate individuals.
• Handle customer complaints with integrity and poise. Take or refer the complaining party to the appropriate individual for further communication.
• Give cash refunds or issue credit memorandums to customers for returned merchandise.
• Balance daily cash drawer at the end of each day. 
• Settle batch for credit card machine at the end of each day. 
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance. 
• Any other tasks deemed necessary by Management. 

Qualifications:

Must be able to read and comprehend instructions and information. One year of experience operating a cash register. High school diploma or the equivalent. College degree and computer knowledge preferred. Must have a professional personal appearance. Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written. Managerial experience desired. Valid Indiana driver’s license and good driving record required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally.

Working Conditions:
Will work at a desk in and office and shop setting. Will work with cash register, computer, and adding machine. Will have continual contact with the public. Will spend time outdoors on the lot year-round. Will have personal interactions with customers. Will drive company and customer vehicles. Will be exposed to noise, heat, cold, dust and fumes. Will stand 6-8 hours per shift. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, lift up to 15 lbs., push and pull.
