Essential Job Functions
Manages research, development, and delivery of youth and adult education and outreach programs along with the Library Director.
Supports the Library department with the following:
Events development
Physical and virtual exhibits research, development, and curation
Lecture Series development
Access-centered digitization project development and collections development
Marketing and promotion of Library services
Library Foundation development and grant writing
Patron research projects
Establish and maintain relationships with industry and community stakeholders.
Supports Keeneland departments with patron experience, organizational history, and programmatic research.
Supervise interns and collaborate with members of Library staff and other Keeneland departments.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of current trends in library services
Ability to enhance patron experience through exceptional customer service.
Proficient in a wide variety of library applications and technology peripherals.
Prior experience with digitization equipment, applications, and peripherals preferred.
Knowledge of community relations best practices.
Must have experience creating and delivering standards-based student educational programming, designing and delivering adult educational programs, and promoting library services to include social media platforms.
Experience with exhibit research and development as well as designing and managing outreach events.
Experience with online library catalogs and digital asset management systems, including Library World, OCLC Record Manager, Omeka, and Islandora.
Must be self-motivated with the ability to exercise independent judgement.
Must be confident in public speaking and representing the Library and Keeneland in the community.
Must have the ability to work with attention to detail and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, people skills, research skills, and critical thinking skills required.
Education and Experience
Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association-accredited program or a Master’s degree in Public History, History, Education, or a related field required.
3 to 5 years of progressive employment in a high service volume library or in a high service volume museum, heritage site, or cultural resource organization preferred.
