Administers and directs the administration of physical agents and procedures utilized in PMR at a specialized skill level as prescribed by a referring physician in order to improve the functional status of the patient.

Minimum Education: • Graduation from a Physical Therapy curriculum with B.S., M.S., DPT, or certificate in Physical Therapy from a school approved by the council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association and the American Physical Therapy Association. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: Years of Experience: • Entry-level (0 years of experience) Ability: • Effective oral and written communication skills to work with patients, families, physicians, and other personnel. • Performs effective evaluation and treatment techniques; develops treatment plans to meet therapy and patient goals. Knowledge: • Must understand and utilize the theories behind physical medicine at an advanced level of skill. • Must understand theory, precautions and contraindications for all physical medicine agents and procedures for their effects on the child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient. Be able to provide guidance for Outpatient staff. • Must have advanced knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and psychosocial issues in order to assess the effects of treatment on body function and structures for the child, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. • Must understand concepts of isolation, sterile technique, and the applications within physical medicine • Must understand the required policies and procedures for PMR and the hospital in general.
