Job Summary

This position reports to the Director of Library and Learning Services and is responsible for providing tutoring support, supervising part-time tutors and student assistants, and overseeing the daily operations of the Learning Commons area for SKYCTC.

POSITION BEGINS : July 1,

Job Duties :

Tutoring responsibilities : Provide instructional support / assistance for one or more subject areas, including writing, mathematics, sciences, business, and / or technology.

Meet with students virtually or in person at one of SKYCTC’s six campus locations. Work with students one-on-one and in small groups to help them become confident, independent learners.

Create and maintain relationships with key faculty members per tutoring subject.

Supervising responsibilities : Supervise part-time tutors (2-5) and student assistants (2-4), which includes scheduling, payroll, and training.

Coordinate the help desk schedule. Coordinate Microsoft Bookings schedules for tutors and librarians. Collaborate with instructional specialists and librarians to provide training and mentoring.

Learning Commons management responsibilities : Responsible for opening the Learning Commons daily. Serve as the primary point of contact with maintenance, custodial, and IT departments to resolve issues.

Other Duties : Collaborate with instructional specialists and librarians to market Learning Commons services to students and faculty.

Participate in professional development. Serve on SKYCTC committees and other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree and four years of related experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess excellent customer service, written, and oral communication skills.

The successful candidate will have experience handling confidential information, a strong work ethic, and problem-solving skills.

Must be patient, kind, dependable, and interested in helping others. Must be detail-oriented with an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and work independently or as a member of a high-functioning team.

This position requires a high level of professionalism and initiative, the ability to meet deadlines, adjust to changing priorities, and the motivation to stay abreast of changes in a dynamic learning environment.
