Salary Range: $3,557 - $5,771 per month

Contract Term Length: 12 Months

Standard Hours: 37.5 per week

Job Summary

The Director of Student Support Services provides leadership for the development and implementation of services provided by the project. Provides planning, organization, administration, and evaluation of the Student Support Services project. The Educational Advisors, Administrative Assistant, Tutors, and temporary staff report to the Director.

Job Duties:

  • Provide leadership to SSS consistent with the mission of the college and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and in cooperation with other college administrators.
  • Coordinate development and implementation of services to participants designed to meet project objectives and the purpose of Trio Student Support Services.
  • Participate with the president and other college leadership in planning and assessing overall college operations and initiatives.
  • Supervise staff including recommendations on hiring, orientation, coaching, evaluation, and supporting professional development.
  • Support accountability and institutional effectiveness by developing, implementing, and assessing effective procedures that support college operations and foster student success.
  • Develop and implement appropriate methodology for evaluating the effectiveness of program personnel, program participants and progress toward meeting Student Support Services objectives.
  • Work with SSS staff in developing and assessing the annual unit plans based on the college strategic plan.
  • Promote the Student Support Services program throughout the college and in the community.
  • Develop and monitor an annual budget related to the goals and operational needs of the project.
  • Provide leadership for SSS program by participating in annual and biennial college-level budgeting.
  • Direct recruitment and selection of eligible participants and maintain confidential records.
  • Ensure compliance with all U. S. Department of Education regulations.
  • Responsible for the development, preparation, and submission of grant proposal and program reports.
  • Coordinate Advisory group and evaluation.
  • Provide direct services to assigned caseload.
  • Participate in Student Access Division programs and services.
  • Participate in college and system organizational development activities including service on college or system committees or involvement in other initiatives as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (Education, Counseling, Student Personnel Services, Social Work, or related field) and four years of related experience, or equivalent. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (Education, Counseling, Student Personnel Services, Social Work, or related field).
  • Two years of experience in higher education with focus on student success and retention.

Additional Skills Requested:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the needs of economically disadvantaged individuals.
  • Experience managing, supervising or administering projects similar to Student Support Services or other federal grants.
  • Evidence of strong organizational, leadership and budget management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
