ABOUT THE POSITION

Are you passionate about making a meaningful impact on community health? We're seeking a dedicated Medical Billing Clerk to join our team. As a Medical Billing Clerk, you'll manage electronic claims, verify patient benefits, and handle billing cycles, including denials and resubmissions. You'll communicate with insurance providers, process payments, and maintain confidentiality while ensuring compliance with HIPAA. Preferred candidates have experience in medical insurance, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in medical insurance and medical terminology preferred
• Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial, and Federally Qualified Health Center preferred
• Follows instructions and maintains workflow standards in a timely fashion and communicates effectively with a team
• Excellent organizational and follow-up skills and multi-task oriented and attention to detail
• Possesses and demonstrates professional telephone demeanor, including ability to manage difficult or emotional patient situations
• Ensures compliance with HIPAA and other privacy policies, maintains strict confidentiality
• Strong Microsoft skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
• Bilingual preferred Korean/Spanish

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Timely submission of clean electronic claims
• Verify eligibility and benefits for medical services
• Data entry and patient demographics verification
• Manage/follow up on denials, claim resubmission, unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frame
• Check each insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with insurance contract
• Conduct aging and follow up
• Research and appeal denied claims
• Communicate with insurance for discrepancies in payment
• Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances
• Process EOB/ERAs
• Post insurance and patient payments, update payment spreadsheets, submit refunds
• Set up patient payment plans and work collection account
• Provide monthly reports, scan/upload documents, distribute correspondences
• Fulfill other duties or responsibilities as needed and assigned
