THE POSITION

Help us grow and strengthen our natural resources work in Wisconsin and the upper Midwest. KCI Technologies is actively restoring wetlands and streams throughout Wisconsin and working with conservation partners to manage conservation lands. Your position will play a critical role to successfully establish the first stream mitigation bank approved in the state of Wisconsin and help to build the foundation for a new stream and wetland restoration complex in the Driftless region. You will play a key role help us to grow our restoration work with conservation partners throughout the region.

Duties, Responsibilities & Other

  • This position will have varying field and office duties related to stream and wetland mitigation and other natural resource projects.
  • 5 years of professional consulting experience in natural resources or restoration ecology preferred.
  • This position will include a significant amount of travel for field work. Out-of-town and overnight travel will be required as part of this position.
  • Performance of duties will, at times, be physically strenuous and involve exposure to Wisconsin weather conditions.
  • Specific duties may include, but are not limited to, ecological land management, wetland and stream assessments, wetland delineation using the USACE manuals, monitoring reports, permit applications, plant identification, CADD/GIS, data analysis, and technical writing.
  • Applicant should possess demonstrated experience in the field of wetland or stream restoration and natural resource mitigation.
  • Applicant should possess knowledge of wetland and stream assessment and monitoring methodologies.
  • Applicant should possess an understanding of watershed hydrology and ecological restoration design. Prior experience with stream restoration design is a plus.
  • Applicant should possess knowledge of invasive species management and familiarity/ability to operate chainsaws, brush cutters, ATVs, and tractors.
  • Applicant will be expected to safely prescribe, mix, and apply herbicides.
  • Experience utilizing aerial drone technology to monitor and manage natural landscapes is beneficial. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification is highly advantageous.
  • Experience with truck and trailer driving is a plus.
  • Additional credentials that will be beneficial include WI DATCP commercial herbicide applicators license, Professional Wetland Scientist registration, Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control registration, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, Rosgen training, and formal CADD training.
  • Applicant should possess experience using ESRI suite of products including ArcMap 10.x, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and Field Maps. Experience with other GIS systems is a plus

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Biology, Natural Resources, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4- 8 years of experience.
  • Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.

Performance Expectations

  • Complete Annual Individual Training Program
  • Train adequate backup personnel to support your role in your absence
  • Attend meetings with clients as required
  • Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
  • Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
  • Complete other duties as required/assigned
  • Assist with preparation of proposals and qualifications in repsonse to RFPs and RFQs
  • Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(85% typical)
  • Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
  • Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
  • Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
  • Assess and document potential project impacts
  • Collect required field data using proper protocols and techniques
  • Lead field surveys
  • Lead the development of and assemble organized, clear, and cohesive technical reports
  • Prepare avoidance or minimization recommendations
  • Prepare mitigation strategy and plan as required
  • Process field data for inclusion in reports and deliverables
  • Review and interpret lab results
