KC Full Circle Midwifery & Family Wellness, LLC is Hiring a Family Nurse Practitioner Near Leawood, KS

KC Full Circle Midwifery & Family Wellness is looking for an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to join our practice. 

SUMMARY

The FNP is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who provides a wide range of family-focused healthcare services to patients of all ages, including infants, adolescents, adults, and seniors. This provider maintains patient records, perform physical exams, orders or performs diagnostic tests, prescribes medications, develops treatment plans, and treats acute and chronic illnesses, conditions, and injuries that fall under primary care. 

This position will be hired as a part-time role and will transition to full-time as patient volume increases and business needs require additional appointment times to be available for patients. 

Job RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnoses and provides treatment for patients with illnesses, diseases and injuries.
  • Obtains medical histories from patients.
  • Conducts yearly physical examinations.
  • Orders and performs diagnostic testing and interprets results.
  • Prescribes medication, physical therapy, and other treatments based on patient’s diagnosis or test results.
  • Recognizes signs of substance abuse or addiction and takes steps to get patient into an appropriate treatment program.
  • Provides family planning, prenatal and postnatal care to women.
  • Provides well child care such as immunizations, sports physicals and other screenings.
  • Conducts gynecological exams and pap smears.
  • Recognizes signs of mental or emotional illness in patients and refers patients to the appropriate doctor for evaluation and treatment.
  • Reports suspected cases of abuse or neglect to county or state authorities.
  • Provides education to patients regarding health risks, preventive care, diet, exercise and overall health maintenance.
  • Collaborates with other providers in coordination of care and case management.

  • Demonstrates strong active learning skills as well as complex problem-solving abilities.
  • Possesses excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Exhibits strong organizational skills and effective time management abilities.
  • Ability to start an IV, perform venipuncture, and Intramuscular (IM)/Subcutaneous (SubQ) injections
  • Ability to use Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • High level of comfort in discussing a plan of care and communicating with patients via phone or patient portal
  • Interest in full family care (seeing an entire family together)
  • Experience or willing to learn procedures (IUDs, Nexplanons, Biote, biopsies, etc)
  • Experience or willingness to be certified in Hormonal therapy for men and women (Biote. BHRT or willing to learn)
  • Comfortable with completing basic vital signs, injections, IVs, and blood draws/heel sticks (adults and peds)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) with an emphasis in Family Practice
  • 3 years experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner
  • 2 years experience working in pediatrics including newborn care
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals Certification 
  • Registered Nurse (RN) License in the state of Kansas 
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) License in the state of Kansas 
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License in the state of Kansas 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Requires full range of body motion, including occasionally handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling, and reaching at arm’s length and overhead in the clinic for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to transfer participants needing maximum assistance of person. Requires the ability to lift/carry up to 55 pounds and push or pull objects exceeding 150 pounds, using appropriate body mechanics.
