Position Title: Research Associate II

Summary of Duties: Responsible for the execution of analytical test methods used for testing samples from the internal and external stability programs as well as maintenance of cell lines, generation of cell line media and other CBA specific materials, upkeep of cell line documentation, and ensure completion of GMP records to support ongoing programs. Responsible for the cell line management, general lab management, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Maintain laboratory notebook and general understanding of Good Documentation Principles to document experimental observations. Independently execute experiments aimed to develop analytical test method for use in process development support and ultimately cGMP testing. Regularly exercises technical discretion in the execution and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project goals. Execute experiments in support of process development. Use cell based assay techniques such as: aseptic technique, cell culture, cell passaging and banking, and cell viability determination. Perform 96-well cell based assays to include various absorbance, luminescent, or fluorescent readouts. Maintain multiple cell lines concurrently with no cross-contamination or microbiological contamination. Maintains familiarity with current scientific literature. Maintains and updates knowledge of instrumentation. Notebook upkeep and sound scientific writing and communication skills. Assures proper labeling, handling, and storage of all chemicals used in the area; assures proper labeling and disposition of hazardous waste in satellite areas; adheres to all safety requirements and follows safe procedures, and attends all required safety and health training, including handling hazardous waste. React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field, and six (6) months of experience as a Research Scientist/Associate, Research Assistant, Co-op, or related role. Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Science, or related field, and two (2) years of experience as a Research Scientist/Associate, Research Assistant, Co-op, or related role. Must also have experience with: Mammalian cell culture; Aseptic techniques; Cell-based assays; Technical troubleshooting; and SoftMax software.
