Job Summary

This position will contribute to the overall success of the Rainforest Sanctuary Cafe, by embracing the culture valued by ARS. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, while providing quality beverages and products, and consistently maintaining a clean, engaging environment.As a Barista at the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary, you are responsible for learning and executing Barista skills in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm, and friendly demeanor. This position requires an upbeat attitude and outgoing personality.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Available to work flexible hours that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends,

nights and/or holidays.

• Meet coffee shop operating policies and standards
• Deliver quality customer service to all guests, maintaining the philosophy that the guest comes first, by discovering and responding to customer needs.
• Approaches each guest interaction with a heart of service and a positive attitude.
• Maintain calm demeanor during periods of high volume and conflict.
• Prepare food and beverages to standard recipes or per customer specifications.
• Available to perform many different tasks within the store during each shift.
• Opening/Closing duties
• Maintains daily Inventory
• Maintains optimal displays of Inventory
• Ensures inventory is processed and stored accurately
• Maintains company compliance, employee and guest safety and confidentiality
• Other duties as assigned
• Provide quality food and beverages
• Proper Cash handling and store safety and security
• Responsible for accurate sales transactions and all sales procedures

REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS, TRAINING AND EDUCATION

• Ability to learn quickly.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and POS
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification

when needed.

• AK Food Handlers Card (required and submitted within first week of work).

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED.
• Customer service experience in a retail or restaurant environment (minimum 6 months).
• Retail coffee shop experience.
• Proficient in point of sale (POS) systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and will occasionally be required to do some lifting (up to 50 pounds).
