Job Description

WORK SCHEDULE

40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.

SUMMARY

Performs clerical and physical tasks in connection with shipping goods of the establishment in which employed and receiving incoming shipments. In performing day-to-day, routine tasks, follows established guidelines. In handling unusual nonroutine problems, receives specific guidance from supervisor or other officials. May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods to be shipped or being received.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive, warehouse, store, handle, protect, deliver, and manage inventory of USAID furniture and other assets.
  • Operate company or government motor vehicles including vans and small box trucks under 24,000 lbs GVW.
  • Use and maintain the Company-owned Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID)system to include tagging furniture and maintaining an accurate and current database of all warehouse furniture.
  • Assemble new furniture, as required, which arrives boxed from the manufacturer prior to delivery to USAID Washington office locations or placed in storage until ready for transport to one of USAID’s Washington office locations.
  • Drive a truck to transport materials, merchandise, equipment, or workers between various locations necessary for the program
  • Manage the inventory to maximize storage efficiency while ensuring the safeguarding and ready access to furniture.
  • Verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against documents.
  • Ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transport vehicles.
  • May also load or unload truck with or without helpers, report any signs of imperfections of the vehicle.
  • Preparing and keeping records of goods shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading.
  • Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records.
  • Inspecting items to ensure any damaged goods are recorded.
  • Ensuring that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment
  • Preparing and keeping records of goods received.
  • Prepares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers.
  • Knowledge of various items of stock to verify content.
  • Selection of appropriate type and size of container, enclosures, closing and sealing of container.
  • Applying labels or entering identifying data on container.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma.
  • Intermediate computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Must have and be able to maintain an active Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required).

TRAVEL

Up to 25% travel is required under this contract.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS

Must have or be able to attain a valid state driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s automobile insurance policy. Driving, with or without accommodation, may be required when traveling for training and/or short occasional amounts of local driving. The expected driving time is less than 25%. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting boxes weighing up to 75 pounds. Frequently uses hands/fingers for handling, to work with such hand tools as wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters, pliers, and soldering irons. Seeing up close. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily performed in a warehouse setting. Employee may be exposed to sharp objects and may be exposed to some heat, loud noise, and chemicals. Katmai strictly adheres to the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHA) regulations. Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory if applicable. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.
