Bad bots are highly destructive. They take over accounts, steal content, overload systems and infrastructure and cause billions of dollars in damages every year. Seeking to restore trust in the internet, Kasada stops bots at the very first request including those that have never been seen before.

We’ve grown from a few friends working out of a shipping container under the Sydney Harbour Bridge to now operating globally, we’re spread across the world protecting some of the most well-known brands on the face of the earth.

We’re an innately curious team that’s not afraid to bring bold ideas to create better ways of solving problems. We’re looking for people who are passionate about solving some of the most difficult and pressing cybersecurity issues, while having fun doing it!

We are in search of a seasoned Senior Software Engineer to bolster our small yet mission-critical Detection team. We work on the challenging task of defeating bots, and we handle an immense volume of traffic (think a billion requests per day) safeguarding renowned brands and protecting people online. Every millisecond counts!

At Kasada, you won’t be confined to the traditional three-tier applications. You will help drive greenfield projects to streamline and optimize the approach to client-side script generation and provide a platform that enables us to enhance our defence at a faster rate.

This position offers abundant opportunities for research and collaboration with our R&D team and the wider engineering group, driving continuous improvement in our defence mechanisms. We are a remote-first business, and this role can be based anywhere in Australia. Although we do have offices in Sydney and Melbourne if you'd like to work from an office.

What you will be doing:

• Taking proof of concepts from security research and implementing them to further enhance our defence against bots
• Performing research in collaboration with product and engineering teams
• Designing and implementing features on our market-leading product
• Being involved in architecture design discussions on how we can build efficient solutions
• Building massively scalable solutions that cater for millions of requests per minute
• Mentoring and coaching other engineers

• NodeJS
• TypeScript
• A mix of databases such as ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL etc.
• AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, EC2 etc.)
• Docker
• GitHub

• At least 5 years experience with some flavour of JavaScript (Back end and TypeScript experience a plus)
• An understanding of or exposure to AWS services
• Experience working with containers
• A great ability to communicate highly technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• A continuous delivery mindset
• An interest in cyber security
