Karis is a nonprofit organization in Grand Junction, CO. Our mission is to eliminate long term poverty and hopelessness in vulnerable young people in Mesa County, ages 13-24, by providing access to safe and stable housing and the support needed to grow in self-sufficiency and well-being. Karis provides four types of housing solutions:
Emergency Shelter Transitional Living from Domestic Violence
Transitional Living Permanent Supportive Living
Our programs include Crime Victim Services, Rapid Rehousing (Supplement), Phoenix Initiative (LGBTQ), and
Street Outreach. We provide 6 services, including:
Drop-In Day Center Crime Victim Advocacy
Case Management Housing Vouchers
24 Hour On-Call Life Skills Groups
Job Description
The Street Outreach Program (SOP) reaches out to homeless, runaway, and unaccompanied youth between ages 13 and 24 in Mesa County.
The Street Outreach Workers provide street and school-based outreach, assessments and services to houseless youth in Mesa County. In cooperation with District 51, community partners, and Karis’ broader programs, the Street Outreach Workers invite teens and youth out of danger and isolation into community, hope, healing and safety. The Street Outreach Worker serves as part of the SOP team and reports directly to the SOP Program Coordinator.
This position will, at times, require transporting youth in a personal vehicle.
All programmatic positions require successful background screening and 7-year motor vehicle report results to fulfill essential functions of the job.
Availability
This is a 20 hour/week, non-exempt position. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
Primary Duties
Training and Experience
Experience in Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing highly preferred. Degree and/or experience in social work, psychology or social services preferred.

Karis provides competitive pay and benefits. Salary commensurate with education, experience, training and market benchmarking. Salary Range $16.00 to $18.00 per hour.
