We are looking for an outgoing, energetic qualified, part-time direct support professional to work PRN, to provide care for our son who is 25 years old and on the autism spectrum. Our son has mild intellectual disabilities, is caring, funny, personable, and loves to stay busy! Some of the activities he enjoys doing are exercising and weightlifting at the YMCA, scrapping and collecting cans, hiking, biking, and filming fun adventures for his YouTube channel. Other favorite past times include going to movies, concerts, and sporting events, and taking his dog for walks. He would like assistance in learning how to cook and to become as independent as possible.
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Maintaining reliable transportation to our home.
- Transporting our son to activities in the community and participating in activities together.
- Practicing coping skills and de-escalation skills.
-Supporting him in meeting his goals and outcomes as outlined in the Individual Support Plan (ISP)
- Teaching daily living tasks such as meal preparation.
- Teaching and modeling appropriate social interactions with others.
Qualifications include:
- Candidates must be 18 years of age.
- Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Candidates must be willing to obtain criminal background checks and FBI fingerprint checks.
- Candidates who have experience working with persons with autism or intellectual disabilities are preferred.
- Candidates also should have some experience working with complex behaviors and have a behavioral health background.
Work Schedule:
We are currently looking for someone to fill in as needed (PRN) in the evenings and/or weekends averaging 5-10 hours per week, with the possibility of more hours depending on activities and schedules.
Payrate:
The starting payrate will be between $18-$25.00 per hour depending on education and experience. Mileage will be reimbursed at .67 a mile.
