Job Title: Information Technology Support Specialist
Job Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Information Technology Administrator
Work Schedule: 1.0 FTE; Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Primary Responsibilities:
The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users and maintaining computer systems, networks, and related equipment. They are tasked with diagnosing and resolving technical issues, as well as ensuring the overall functionality and security of IT systems. This role will require strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and dedication to maintaining a smooth IT workflow in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of our IT team, while also contributing to our organization's overall success
Minimum Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant field is a plus.
· Proven experience in an administrative support role, preferably in an IT department.
· Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
· Basic understanding of IT concepts and terminology is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
· Technical Support: Provide timely and effective technical assistance to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
· Hardware and Software Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software. This includes setting up new workstations and ensuring existing equipment is functioning optimally.
· User Account Management: Create, modify, and delete user accounts, manage access permissions, and assist with password resets.
· Data Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage data backup solutions to ensure data integrity and facilitate data recovery in case of system failures or data loss.
· Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of IT assets, including computers, printers, and software licenses. Track and manage equipment procurement and disposal.
· Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to IT systems, including hardware and software inventory, network diagrams, and user manuals.
· Security Maintenance: Implement and maintain security measures, including firewalls, antivirus software, and software updates. Ensure that the systems are up to date with security.
· Training and User Education: Provide training and guidance to end-users on how to use hardware and software effectively and securely.
· Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve technical issues, both hardware and software, in a timely and efficient manner. Escalate complex issues to higher-level IT personnel when necessary.
· Remote Support: Assist remote or off-site users with technical issues, utilizing remote desktop tools or phone-based support.
· System Administration: Perform basic system administration tasks, such as creating and managing user profiles, configuring email accounts, and ensuring system health.
· Collaboration on IT Projects: Participate in IT projects, such as system upgrades, migrations, and technology implementations. Contribute to planning and execution as needed.
· Adherence to IT Policies: Ensure all IT activities and processes comply with the organization's IT policies, security protocols, and best practices.
· Communication and Correspondence: Manage and respond to internal and external IT inquiries via email, phone, and in-person interactions. Handle routine IT-related communications, including distributing IT notices and updates.
· Data Entry and Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventories of hardware and software assets. Input and update information in our IT asset management system. May assist the Quality and Data Specialist from time to time with AIMS data reporting.
· Office Organization: Maintain a tidy and organized IT office space, including keeping IT supplies stocked.
· IT Project Support: Collaborate with the IT team to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of IT projects. Assist in tracking project progress, timelines, and resource allocation.
· Other duties as reasonably assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands:
· Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
· Ability to read computer screens, e-mail, and talk on the phone.
· Ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds.
