Position Summary:

This Software System Analyst III position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Office of Information Technology Services. This position performs specialized technical support work in the operation, performance, maintenance, upgrade, and troubleshooting of KDOT’s electronic computing environment with an emphasis on Beyond Trust software, including reporting, documenting, and training on best practices.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as the BeyondTrust Administration Liaison, acting as the bridge between internal users and the BeyondTrust security platform. This position manages user access requests, conducts regular reviews and reporting, provides technical support on BeyondTrust functionalities, and proactively monitors for security vulnerabilities. The liaison also utilizes the internal ticketing system, stays updated on BeyondTrust best practices, educates users, works with complex issues, and prepares reports for management.
  • Provides user support and manages the internal knowledge base, including resolving tickets in their area of expertise while ensuring user satisfaction, collaborating with users to troubleshoot users, maintaining the knowledge base with solutions, monitoring ticket resolution times, and working with other IT teams for complex matters.
  • Performs documentation functions focusing on security and system architecture documentation, including analyzing AD permission groups, documenting and creating system architecture mappings, and providing a clear visual representation of how various systems and components interact within the IT infrastructure.
  • Ensures IT service continuity and provides backup support for critical services like DNS, external access, certificates, SCCM, and AD. This position also collaborates with various IT teams to address miscellaneous support needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of 24 hours in computer science coursework
  • OR Certification and three years of experience in system software programming and analysis
  • OR Four years of experience in system software programming and analysis or database implementation and maintenance.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Transcripts are required for education to be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Coursework in network operation systems, network protocols, LANs & WANs, and storage area networks.
  • Experience with independent complex work in system software programming/analysis, including Virtual Server environment.

Licensing & Certification:

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Professional (MCP) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred.
  • Storage Networking Industry Association SAN Professional (SNIA FC-SAN Professional) and/or Brocade Certified Fabric Professional (BCFP) preferred.
