About Great Jobs KC
KC Scholars (dba Great Jobs KC) (www.greatjobskc.org) is a 501(c)(3) college scholarship and tuition-free job training program. Its goal is to support persistence and increase the college completion rate for low- and modest-income students across the six-county, bi-state service region and secure family-sustaining careers. The organization was designed to change thousands of individual lives and transform the region by preparing the local future workforce and contributing to the regional economy. The KC Scholars Scholarship Program awards traditional college scholarships to high school juniors, adult learner scholarships to adults 18 years and older, and college savings match awards to high school freshmen. The Great Jobs KC program provides tuition assistance to approved career training programs in high-demand industries such as construction, healthcare, information technology, logistics/warehousing, manufacturing and service careers. With the support of Great Jobs KC, adults 17 and older can learn the skills needed in one year or less to secure a job with family-sustaining wages. Great Jobs KC supports all its Scholars throughout their college or job training and into their first year of employment.

About The Role
Reports to: Sr. Director of IT
Location: Kansas City, MO
Hybrid (technology provided)
Status: Exempt, Full-time
Salary: Annual salary based on experience

Key Performance Indicators:
  • Stakeholders indicate 100% rate of satisfaction through the experience and accuracy of the data.
  • Strategizing to provide long term solution to house, archive and properly backup 100% of historical data.
  • Contribute towards IT’s goal of completing 90% of IT project work on time and within budget.

Responsibilities
Deliver Reliable Solutions & Technology (60%):
  • Design and build robust, high-performance, and adaptable solutions for modern data platforms with the ability to integrate technical functionality.
  • Responsible for the delivery of a robust, scalable data architecture that meets the business goals of the organization.
  • Defining the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data such as product codes and client categories, and master data such as clients, products, and employees.
  • Defining data flows, i.e., which parts of the organization generate data, which require data to function, how data flows are managed, and how data changes in transition.
  • Application & Data Protection: Implement and oversee data and application security measures to protect against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
  • Data Vulnerability Management: Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring continuous protection against threats.
  • Security Configuration Management: Maintain secure configuration standards for applications and platforms, including regular reviews and updates to security policies.
  • Ensure Data Security processes are aligned across the organization.
  • Design and manage integrations with other systems and applications, ensuring seamless data flow and process automation.
  • Implement data models, data governance policies, and data migration strategies to maintain data accuracy and integrity.
  • Ensure robust security measures, including data access controls, to protect sensitive information and comply with industry best practices.
  • Provide timely and accurate project documentation and reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, progress, and achievements.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors, when necessary, to support the organizational needs.
Process Improvement & Documentation (20%):
  • Establish and document policies regarding data storage, access, usage, processing, and other key components of data systems.
  • Evaluate current data structure and environment and create and execute a short-term plan to any identified gaps or potential issues in collaboration with the product team.
  • Provide thought leadership in the design, architect, and management of data that is aligned with organization’s overall strategies.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of Data solutions, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with end-users across different teams in the organization to identify potential areas of improvement in existing workflows and recommend those to IT leadership.
  • Work with the Project Manager to identify and implement changes in team processes for quicker and efficient resolution of the prioritized tasks.
Financial Acumen (20%):
  • Influence, promote, drive quality improvement, service enhancements, cost reductions, and productivity increases for the team and business systems.
  • Solid understanding of financial control and budget management
  • Uses cost-benefit thinking to help set priorities.
  • Fosters an environment that encourages fiscal responsibility.

Education & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Technology, or similar) required.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Management, and/or Data Quality experience.
  • High level understanding of Big Data platforms and applications.
  • Experience architecting solutions and use cases with Data Governance or Metadata Management tools with superior data mapping skills.
  • Experience creating data architecture policies and processes for data driven technology solutions.
  • Must have experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Additional Knowledge, skills, and competencies:
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing, and BI architectures, concepts, and frameworks.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
