Kansas City Public Schools is Hiring a Secondary Principal 830 (2024-2025) Northeast High School Near Kansas, MO

Provide effective instructional and organizational leadership to school faculty, staff, and students in all areas. Work collaboratively and effectively with all school personnel, students, parents and community members. Provide guidance and monitoring of all state and district requirements in serving the needs of students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following:

  • Organizes and monitors school planning processes in which cooperative working relationships are facilitated in developing goals and objectives that are transferable to programmatic implementation.
  • Monitors the curriculum and identifies progress toward stated goals and objectives. Promotes use of assessment data (e.g. monitors student progress, conducts and uses assessment data to guide instruction, uses academic support systems) for the purpose of increasing student achievement.
  • Assists in designing procedures to evaluate student progress in relation to instructional objectives using RTI and MTSS processes.
  • Uses evaluation findings and assessment information to make decisions to expand, revise or suspend curricular programs, interventions and student supports, as well as resource allocation.
  • Promotes continuous improvements models and guides overall strategic planning.
  • Develop and progress monitor student outcomes, specifically attendance, assessment outcomes and graduation.
  • Aligns instructional programming with curricular goals consistent with district-wide expectations to meet individual learner needs.
  • Lead all aspects of college and career readiness and postsecondary opportunities.
  • Directs and supervises the business operations of the school including budget, requisitions and accounting.
  • Sets high standards of conduct and monitors all facets of school life to ensure that all persons strive to meet these standards.
  • Makes regular systematic and accurate appraisals of staff performance through scheduled and unscheduled classroom observations.
  • Provides ongoing coaching to support the development of staff capacity.
  • Oversees the development and presentation of data-informed, researched-based professional development to drive school improvement planning and assist in accomplishing school, district and state objectives.
  • Establishes and supervises procedures for the security of school facilities and safety of all personnel and students.
  • Open and accepting of feedback to enhance strengths and build leadership capacity.
  • Discharges assigned responsibility for selection, orientation, evaluation, transfer, reappointment or dismissal of district personnel by following all district regulations regarding each of these functions. Sets effective procedures and standards for evaluation and supervision of support personnel.
  • Leads communication to ensure students, parents and the community are informed of school, district and state goals, policies and activities.
  • Ensures that parents are provided with regular reports of their child’s progress.
  • Advocates for the students, staff, school, district and public education (e.g. responsive to parents and community, creates a welcoming climate and culture, markets school programs, promotes and emphasizes support for parental involvement) for the purpose of encouraging and promoting community involvement and outreach.
  • Takes steps to ensure excellent public relations, including the parent newsletter, building and teacher websites, the school paper, and the yearbook.
  • Provides leadership in guiding the various programs sponsored with the public, i.e. boosters, social agencies, School Advisory Committees, Area Attendance Council, P.T.A., and etc.
  • Supervises and delegates athletic events, evening school functions, and attends school-related community events.
  • Manages field trips, out-of-state trips, and related transportation requests.
  • Drives the vision and mission of equity as outlined by policies of Kansas City Public Schools.
  • Attends and participates in regularly required professional development activities both internal and external.
  • Ensure accurate records and maintained and all required documents are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Performs any or all Medicaid Administrative Case Management duties, which serve to inform children and their families how to effectively access, use and maintain participation in all health resources under the Federal Medicaid program.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Hold, or be eligible for Missouri Certification in secondary school teaching.
  • Hold or be eligible for Missouri Certification in secondary school administration.
  • Five (5) years of secondary teaching experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Specialist and/or Doctorate Degree in Secondary School Administration.
  • Experience in curriculum articulation, development, and coordination.
  • Experience as building administrator.
  • Two (2) years administrative experience in urban secondary schools.
