Kansas City Public Schools is Hiring a Language Services and Cultural Equity (LSCE) Enrollment Specialist Near Kansas, MO

The LSCE Enrollment Specialist will serve as the English Learner (EL) enrollment expert for the district to ensure access and equity for potential EL students and families who speak languages other than English. The specialist will collaborate closely with the Admissions Department and serve as the LSCE department lead in developing and implementing the registration and enrollment processes in the student information system. The specialist will assist families with online registration, support the screening process, and communicate with schools about newly enrolled ELs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support potential EL families to complete the online registration by providing linguistically and culturally responsive service to families and students enrolling at KCPS.
  • Process applications to ensure accurate and timely enrollment and identify and code students for Federal Programs.
  • Coordinate with LSCE staff to schedule the student's next steps during
  • Serve as the IWC point of contact for schools, the Admissions Department, and the Exceptional Education Department regarding EL student enrollment, and communicate in a timely manner.
  • Assess training needs on EL-specific enrollment requirements, procedures, and policies for all staff supporting Develop and provide training and maintain records and materials for training.
  • Collaborate closely with the Admission Department to ensure critical Core Data and Title III fields are included on registration and enrollment forms.
  • Participate in standard operating procedures reviews within LSCE as well as inter-departmentally to evaluate processes and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Monitor data entry quality in key fields in the student information system; make corrections, coach staff, and provide quality assurance indicators and feedback to supervisors.
  • Ensure access and equity for families who speak languages other than English, in accordance with KCPS policies, DESE compliance requirements, and the Office of Civil Rights.
  • Assist with the efficient and courteous processing of telephone and in-person contacts made by the public and/or other District employees about potential EL enrollments.
  • Track individual special cases relating to complications during the enrollment process to ensure resolution and delivery of services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Spanish and English proficiency
  • 60 college hours or equivalent relevant experience (or a combination of education and experience)
  • Proficient in with software use in an office setting (Microsoft suite, google, )
  • Three (3) years of experience working in a school
  • Two (2) years of experience with a Student Information System/web-based data management system.
  • Ability to analyze, develop, implement, and track
  • Exceptional interpersonal and intercultural communication
  • Ability to work independently and in a
  • Willing to learn new and technology-related skills as
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and self-motivated in job-related

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior experience of using Infinite Campus
  • Previous enrollment experience in PK-12 education setting
  • Knowledge of Title III and other elementary and secondary federal programs
