Kansas City Public Schools is Hiring a District-Wide Integrated Security Systems Manager 02211 Near Kansas, MO

To maintain, repair, and replace video surveillance cameras, alarm monitoring, visitor management, and card access systems managed by the Safety and Security Department of the Kansas City Public Schools (KCPS). This includes the intrusion alarm systems. The Technician will also be required to know how to provide essential maintenance on the KCPS walk-through metal detectors. Coordinate and provide oversight for outside contractors hired to maintain, repair, and replace the video surveillance cameras, intrusion alarm systems, card access systems, visitor management systems, and walkthrough metal detectors. Coordinate and assist KCPS crafts/ trades staff and KCPS IT staff in maintaining, repairing, and replacing the video surveillance camera systems, intrusion alarm systems, card access systems, visitor management systems, and walkthrough metal detectors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respond to KCPS facilities and repair or replace defective video surveillance camera systems. Conduct routine maintenance on all video surveillance camera systems.
  • Respond to KCPS facilities to repair and replace defective parts on all KCPS walk-through metal detectors.
  • Respond to KCPS facilities to repair and replace defective parts for all card access systems and conduct routine maintenance on each system to ensure proper operation.
  • When necessary, be on a 24-hour on-call to respond to all authorized system malfunctions.
  • Maintain files and records of systems, equipment, and repairs accomplished on all alarm systems, video surveillance cameras, card access systems, and metal detectors.
  • Submit detailed requests for parts, equipment, and service orders to perform maintenance, repair, and replacement responsibilities. All requests will comply with all KCPS procurement policies.
  • Agree to adhere to all training prescribed by security management.
  • Program building access cards and passwords associated with the intrusion alarm systems and video camera surveillance systems upon receiving approval from the Safety & Security Department Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Human Capital Management Department.
  • Delete building access cards and passwords associated with the intrusion alarm systems and video camera surveillance systems upon receiving approval from the Safety & Security Department Director, Chief Operations Officer, and the Human Capital Management Department.
  • Maintain a real-time database for all programmed building access cards and passwords issued and deleted.
  • Ensure that all information, databases, procedures, passwords, codes, and equipment specifications associated with the video surveillance camera systems, intrusion alarm systems, card access systems, and walkthrough metal detectors remain confidential to ensure the systems cannot be compromised.
  • Must have the ability to work harmoniously with outside contractors and other Internal KCPS staff. 1

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate.
  • Five (5) years of Tech experience in security cameras, card access, and intrusion alarm systems.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suites (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Successfully passed the Kansas City Public Schools pre-employment drug screen. Note: Subject to post-accident drug screens and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
  • Successfully pass the Kansas City Public Schools pre-employment physical abilities test. Note: Subject to physical abilities testing following an illness or injury that requires an officer to be absent from duty for a prolonged period.
  • Successfully pass the Kansas City Public Schools pre-employment psychological exam. Note: Subject to psychological testing following a catastrophic event or injury.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must be able to operate a security vehicle. The position requires entering and exiting the vehicle multiple times per shift in all types of weather, day or night.
  • Be insurable with the district insurance provider.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ten (10) years of Tech experience in security cameras, card access, and intrusion alarm systems.
  • Professional Certifications in security camera systems, intrusion alarm systems, and card access systems.
  • Post Secondary degree in computer science technology-related field.
  • Working knowledge of Avigilon security camera systems, Avigilon card access systems, DMP intrusion alarm systems, Hall Pass visitor management systems, and Motorola two-way radio systems.

The job requires the employee to sit, stand, and walk for long periods. The position requires the employee to speak, hear, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and fingers, bend, and stoop. The employee must be able to walk & run up and down stairs in all climatic conditions during the day or night. The job requires the employee to be able to do some lifting to 50 lbs. The position requires that the employee be able to hear. Visual ability requires mono and color vision. Vision must be correctable to 20/20. The job requires the employee to be able to drive a motor vehicle for long periods during the daytime and nighttime and in all types of weather conditions. The position requires employees to enter and exit a motor vehicle several times throughout their assigned work shift. Must be able to use a ladder or lifting device to work inside or outside District facilities at heights of five feet up to fifty feet above ground. The position requires that the employee pass the pre-employment physical abilities test.
