A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN ENTRY-LEVEL BILINGUAL PARENT & CHILD EDUCATOR / EARLY HEAD START

As a Parent & Child Educator for our Early Head Start Home Base program, you provide services to a caseload of children and their families. Through weekly home visits, you promote the continued involvement of parents in their children's education. You provide guidance, support, and services to help the child and parent better function both individually and within their family unit. It is also your responsibility to coordinate any required program services and ensure compliance with any Health and Family Services mandates. You work with families to identify and continually access the services and resources available to them in the community. Highly communicative, you touch base regularly with both your supervisor and your families.

You also conduct 2-hour socialization events twice per week and parent meetings 12 times per year. Using the ChildPlus.net and Frog Street Aim systems, you accurately perform the required data entry for any documentation related to your caseload. You maintain all case files in accordance with governmental regulations as well as our organizational philosophies and policies. To support our programming, you help recruit income- and age-eligible children as well as parent representatives for our policy council and parenting committees. As needed, you help transport children and their families for medical appointments and emergencies. You find working to promote the well-being of children to be highly rewarding!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN ENTRY-LEVEL BILINGUAL PARENT & CHILD EDUCATOR / EARLY HEAD START

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

WORK SCHEDULE

This full-time social services position requires extensive local travel to homes, trainings, and recruitment events as well as providing transportation to group socialization and parent meetings.
