Position Summary:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization.
committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and
social responsibility. The Funds Development Director at the Kankakee YMCA intentionally
fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and
determined while also conceptualizing, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive
Funds Development program including Annual campaign, Endowment, Capital,
sponsorships, and assistance with grants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

STRATEGY

o Refines annual campaign strategy for the Y in collaboration with executive and volunteer leadership. Creates supportive documents and communications.

o Translates organizational goals into executable plans with accountable staff and volunteers by defining tasks, milestones, and priorities for projects.

GIFT & EVENT MANAGEMENT

o Establishes systems for timely and appropriate acknowledgements of gifts.

o Oversees the data management of gifts and conducts regular analysis and reporting of campaign progress.

o Staffs and help manage special events, projects, and committees.

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

o Recruits, onboards, and develops volunteers from diverse backgrounds to develop an effective, comprehensive funds development program.

o Helps train volunteers in gift solicitation. Works closely with executive leadership.

COMMUNICATIONS/MARKETING

o Collaborates with leadership to develop communication and campaign strategies to market campaigns. Supports plans for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting sponsorships, annual funds, Lamplighters, and capital prospects.

o Writes clearly and concisely, using correct grammar, vocabulary, and appropriate tone for audience and speaks in a clear, articulate manner.

o Oversees prospect/donor correspondence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Understanding of and enthusiasm for the mission and impact of the YMCA.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - preferably in a relevant field such as Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or Nonprofit Management.

• Fundraising experience in giving campaigns and event planning.

• Experience in managing volunteers.

• Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills.

• The Y will train in additional job-related competencies and needed qualifications.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $44,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
