Under the direction of the Branch Manager, the Member Service Specialist is responsible for establishing a full relationship with members. The Member Service Specialist is personally committed to consistently exceeding customer expectations by meeting a broad range of financial service needs. The Member Service Specialist is responsible for providing high customer service to our members. Performs routine branch duties including but not limited to processing transactions efficiently, professionally, and accurately; identifying customer needs; promoting credit union products and services; maintaining and accurately balancing teller cash drawer; opening and closing all depository accounts; balances each day’s transactions and verifies cash totals; opening and closing accounts; renewing certificates; processes and closes consumer loans, including Home Equity Loans and credit cards; performs a variety of account maintenance duties; mentoring, training and developing other staff. In addition, the Member Service Specialist will help attain branch goals. Adheres to all credit union-established policies, procedures, and overall compliance regulations.
Education/Certification: High school graduate or equivalent. Meets the requirements of a Mortgage Loan Originator under the SAFE Act.
Required Knowledge: A thorough knowledge of Teller operations and procedures. Basic understanding of Credit Union operations. Understanding of Credit Union philosophy. Knowledge of basic accounting.
Experience Required: At least two years of related Member Service experience preferred. Minimum of one year of cash handling experience.
Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication and public relations skills. Professional appearance and attitude. Good motivational and leadership skills. Able to organize multiple projects. Solid oral and written communication abilities. Able to use all related software applications. Solid math abilities.
