Job Description and Overview :
The LD/BD/ID Teacher/Interventionist is assigned to deliver a comprehensive individualized program in accordance with state law, West Virginia Board of Education, and county policies/regulations, based on the student needs per the student IEP.

LD/BD/ID Teacher/Interventionists will work with identified students to assess and provide specialized individual and small group instruction (above and beyond that provided through regular classroom instruction) to those students who are at risk for developing or who are experiencing deficiencies in any content skills. They will provide scheduled daily instruction unless the principal determines otherwise.

Qualifications :
1. Holds or qualifies for a West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate endorsed for the areas of exceptionalities listed on the job posting.
2. Preference is given to those individuals who can demonstrate a deep knowledge of the pedagogy associated with the implementation of the job responsibilities, including successful intervention, and analyzing data.
3. Preference given to those individuals who can demonstrate effective teaching strategies, communication, technology integration and training techniques to implement the School Strategic Plan action steps that meets the county goals for improved instruction.
4. Preference given to those who have received professional development in research-based intervention programs.
5. Must be able to analyze and explain assessment data such as, the General Summative Assessment, iReady Diagnostic, PSAT, SAT, or other data as it impacts instruction.
6. Must be able to share the foundational components and latest research of instructional practice, interventions, technology, and assessment.
7. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal.

Responsibilities :
1. Maintain student confidentiality, adhering to FERPA guidelines.
2. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
3. Implement a program in accordance with federal, state, and county laws policies and regulations.
4. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
5. Gather and interpret data relevant to services for students.
6. Prepare classroom for class activities and develop lesson plans.
7. Participate in the development of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student as assigned (caseload).
8. Identify and utilize a variety of instructional resources and methods to support the learning needs of students at varying levels of progress.
9. Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
10. Provide for the care and protection of school property.
11. Utilize relevant technology to support instruction.
12. Observe and evaluate student performance and development and provide feedback on student work.
13. Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments as appropriate.
14. Provide consultative services to classroom teachers regarding the education of students with disabilities per student's IEP.
15. Monitor and encourage individual student progress.
16. Provide guidance to students which will promote educational development.
17. Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress and development.
18. Update records accurately and completely as required by laws and district policies.
19. Complete and submit all reports/ IEP's / documentation/Medicaid in a timely manner as required by law, the West Virginia Department of Education and/or the county Board of Education.
20. Manage student behavior and maintain discipline by establishing classroom rules, procedures and enforcing classroom, school, and district rules and procedures.
21. Participate in department, school, district meetings and professional development activities as appropriate.
22. Stay current with most recent developments in appropriate subject area as initiated by the school or district.
23. Attend all staff development required per job responsibilities (school and county based, IEP training, Medicaid training, and any other trainings required per student IEP or the Special Education department).
24. Participate fully in the Medicaid billing process, as well as activities required to bill Medicaid and Random Moments, if applicable.
25. Cooperate with and participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the total school program.
26. Foster and maintain effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
27. In the event of a directive issued by the Cabell County Superintendent of Schools, instruction may be modified. Modification of instruction may include, but not limited to:
a. Ability to conduct instruction virtually, if needed.
b. Ability to use virtual formats, including, but not limited to, Schoology, Teams, etc.
c. Ability to provide support to families, virtually or via phone contacts, as determined by Cabell County Schools.
d. Use documentation log for communication and evidence of instruction/instructional support.
e. Documentation of virtual instruction and communication with families/students must be submitted to the Special Education department as determined by Cabell County Schools.
28. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal/Director or the Director of Special Education.
29. Provide targeted multi-tiered instruction to students based upon individual weaknesses revealed through data.
30. Work with the school-based team (Special Education, Speech Language Pathologists, Title I, Graduation Coach, etc.) to plan, assess, and intervene in assigned school.
31. Utilize appropriate record keeping strategies to track student progress and attendance.
32. Coordinate schedules with building principal/director.
33. Provide support and assistance to all students through the intervention process.
34. Conduct small group interventions as directed by data to ensure student growth.
35. Provide a multi-tiered intervention and enrichment system for English, Reading, or Math instruction.
36. Intervene with students that are behind in their coursework.
37. Track students as they work through the appropriate curriculum, assuring they are getting instruction on all state approved standards.
38. Attend all faculty senate and other required meetings.
39. Accept reasonable extra duty assignments necessary for a successful school program.
40. Provide live instruction in person and virtually on a daily basis.
41. In the event of a directive issued by the Cabell County Superintendent of Schools, instruction may be modified (ex. remote/distance learning). Modification of instruction may include but is not limited to:
a. Conducting instructional interventions virtually.
b. Conducting school-based, in-person instructional interventions.
c. Ability to use virtual formats, using Teams, or other approved online platforms
d. Ability to support instruction for students who may participate virtually, remotely, or in person
e. Ability to provide support to families, virtually or by phone
f. Use documentation logs for communication as evidence of interventions
