Kaman is Hiring a Production Supervisor Near Wichita, KS

Overview

Under minimal supervision, sets up and operates CNC (computer numerically controlled) machinery to fabricate parts. Supervises CNC Operators, Programmers, and production Employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Leads projects with plant layout and streamlining processes for departments.
  • Recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
  • Become the key driver for moving from detection to prevention for safety, quality, and production.
  • Manages labor tracking and manpower requirements.
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling on time delivery requirements.
  • Responsible for establishing and documenting a training plan for each individual, referencing problem-solving skills, to include a training strategy, identification of strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Responsible for implementation of In-Process Inspection points and the Manufacturing Inspector program.
  • Responsible for producing parts according to quality and customer requirements.
  • Enforces policies and procedures.
  • Accountability for tardiness and absenteeism, including daily recordkeeping.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to write and prepare from standard to complicated written materials, reports, correspondence, etc.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to apply logic in problem solving for both internal and external customer. Strong problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform basic and more complicated mathematic fundamentals – add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to perform stringent analysis of data, using strong math, statistical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to use PC computers and have command of Microsoft software – Word and Excel, PowerPoint, project management software, and others as needed. Use of company computer systems (with training).
  • Ability to be confident in presentations and communications with customers and internal personnel.
  • Positive customer service and ability to work with others in a team setting. Regularly works effectively, and relates well, with others including superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside of the company. Exhibits a consistent professional manner in all situations. Meets the public well.
  • Very strong, positive people management skills are essential.
  • Understanding of the inner workings of the company, and can answer questions asked by internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of the aerospace and composite industries and/or other manufacturing environments.
  • Strong verbal and written skills. Communicates effectively with employees, upper management, and customers.
  • Excellent problem solving skills are required.
  • Strong ability to develop efficiencies, cost savings, and continuous improvements within the assigned departments, as well as assisting in the same throughout the facility.
  • Strong motivation and self-starting initiative is required.
  • Strong management and leadership skills are required.
  • Must have good organizational skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at any given time. Must manage priorities well.
  • Must be able to decipher customer specifications. Ability to interpret blueprints, customer specifications, build records and planning.
  • Strong ability to create presentations and deliver them to employees, customers, and/or upper management and staff.
  • Must be able to give and receive feedback in order to correct behavior

Qualifications

  • BS in Business or other related field preferred. 
  • Two to five years of supervisory experience in manufacturing environment working is required.
  • Blueprint and customer specifications experience is required.
  • Must have experience with operating CNC machinery (5-Axis), NC (numerical control) programming
  • Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and Lean training and experience preferred.
