Overview

Kaman Corporation is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The individual in this role will perform various accounting duties, account analysis, financial schedules, manual journal entries and identification of process improvements within the Accounting department. They will also contribute to the monthly department close process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze data for account reconciliations and preparation
• Responsible for monthly group charge, corporate charge and intercompany loan process
• Process general journal entries into the corporate general ledger, including the monthly credit card journal entry
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining the Corporate Finance departments journal entry operating procedure
• Responsible for Corporate Finance Department Communications to the business units and monitoring financial submittal packages on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Leads annual assessment of the record retention policy to ensure the Corporate Finance Department is compliant and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining standard procedures for department record retention.
  • Identifies and resolves outdated files
  • Streamline departmental access to files
• Other duties, as needed and as appropriate

Qualifications

Required Skills

• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to properly handle several tasks at the same time.
• Excellent computer skills, including Windows, Microsoft Office, and mainframe systems. Experience with CODA and Concur is a plus.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Kaman Senior Management, Kaman employees, and the outside audit staff.
• Problem solving ability is essential. Duties require considerable judgment and initiative.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, with moderate supervision.
• High level of discretion; position involves routine exposure to confidential information.

Education / Previous Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• Two or more years’ experience in accounting.

Other Requirements

• Position involves extended work hours during the year-end and quarterly closings, and special projects.
