Positions Available: Infant/Toddler Caregivers & Assistants (Lahaina)

  • Assistants: Help ignite curiosity in our NEW Infant or Toddler classroom.

Job Description: Infant/Toddler Caregiver

Are you passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on their lives? Look no further! We’re currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Caregivers or Assistants. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in nurturing young minds, fostering growth, and supporting their development.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a Safe Environment: Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment for children.
  • Supervise Activities: Monitor children’s play and interactions, ensuring safety and appropriate behavior.
  • Hygiene and Care: Attend to children’s hygiene needs, including diapering & toileting and teaching them the importance of handwashing.
  • Meals & Nutrition: Help serve meals and snacks. Join children at the table to model manners and converse as you enjoy the meal together.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Implement age-appropriate activities and educational programs from our curriculum.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain records of each child’s progress, interests, and any issues.
  • Parent Communication: Keep parents informed about their child’s experiences.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to achieve our mission.

A Day in the Life of a Caregiver or Assistant:

  • Warm Greetings: Begin your day by welcoming infants / toddlers and families as they arrive. Your friendly demeanor sets a positive tone for everyone.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Dive into our engaging curriculum! Plan and execute fun activities that foster the development of young minds. Remember, we’re much more than a mere ‘daycare’—we’re shaping futures!
  • Snuggles and Stories: Picture this: you’re nestled with little ones, singing songs and reading captivating stories. These moments create lasting memories for both you and the children.
  • Outdoor Adventures: Encourage physical activity! Venture outdoors with the children, exploring nature, playing games, and soaking up the sunshine. Fresh air fuels their curiosity.
  • Post-Adventure Mealtime: After an exciting song and dance or a burst of creativity through fingerpainting, enjoy a relaxed meal. Recharge and connect! (Lunch & snacks provided!)
  • Safety and Comfort First: Ensure that every child feels safe, comfortable, and secure. Your watchful eye and caring touch make all the difference.
  • Family Communication: Share the day’s highlights with families. From heartwarming moments to exciting discoveries, keep parents informed.
  • Preparation for Tomorrow: Set up the classroom for the next day’s activities. A well-organized space awaits curious minds.

About Our Preferred Candidate:

  • Must have a Passion for Children: Genuine care for the well-being and development of young learners.
  • Is an Enthusiastic, Team Player: Collaborates effectively with a supportive team.
  • Is Flexible: Adapts to the needs of children and the program. Is willing to learn.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Caregivers (Infant/Toddler Teachers):

  • A combination of experience and training is required. Caregiver applicants may have:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 12 College Credits in Early Childhood OR 30 hours of Infant/Toddler Development Training.
  • 12-24 months of experience in a licensed childcare program with children under 36 months.

If you don’t quite meet these requirements, don’t fret! Kama’aina Kids can help you qualify for a Caregiver role if you’re interested and committed to personal growth. We offer Infant/Toddler Development Training and assistance in obtaining your CDA (Child Development Associate) at no cost to you! Just apply for a "Teacher Assistant" role and you'll be taking the first steps on your career journey!
