JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title : International Flight Clearance Coordinator

Department : Flight Operations Support

Reports To : Manager, International Flight Clearance

FLSA Status : Nonexempt

SUMMARY :

Accepts flight requirements from management / sales, coordinates with internal departments, obtains necessary rights and permits, ensures flight routing and permit reliability, and presents a complete trip package to flight following for use in managing the actual flight / series of flights.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Evaluates routing and submits necessary applications for necessary operating rights, overflight permits, and landing permits.
  • Coordinates with approved vendors to obtain necessary clearances as required.
  • Ensures international clearances required to operate scheduled and charter operations are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Prepares a complete trip package for use by flight following in managing scheduled and charter operations.
  • Confirms proposed routing and scheduled times for operational correctness
  • May be required to cover Operations Assistant Duties
  • Additional Duties as required by the Manager of International Flight Clearance

QUALIFICATIONS :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Applicants must be prepared to work all shifts;

including but not limited to nights, weekends, and holidays. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :

High school graduate; some college and / or technical school desirable. Must have good working knowledge of world geography, air cargo, and aircraft ground operations.

Must possess exceptional attention to detail and abstract problem solving capabilities. Experience in a flight dispatch center helpful.

FAA Dispatcher’s license desirable, but not required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Ability to convert between different units of measure. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

The employee is frequently required to use a computer terminal, telephone and l0-key calculator. The employee is required to stand, walk, and climb / descend stairs.
