The Career and Technical Education (CTE) School Counselor will provide continuity care to all students in Career and Technical Education programs at the Career Connect Campus and related satellite sites to support an inclusive, accessible, safe, and welcoming environment for all students. The counselor will provide individual and group counseling as well as emergency assistance to students in need; provide outreach to prospective students regarding programs; and career planning guidance to current CTE students in countywide programs. The CTE counselor will support students’ access and exposure to world-class CTE programs of study and related opportunities so that students are equipped to excel and succeed in their chosen path. The CTE counselor will model KRESA’s core values and uphold KRESA’s anti-bias, anti-racist (ABAR) commitments. In collaboration with teammates across the Campus and broader Career Connect team, the counselor will support local district awareness of programming and build support for the overall career awareness and preparation strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Minimum skills and education required:
Master’s Degree (M.A. or M.S.)
A minimum of three years teaching or counseling experience
Experience providing professional development
Knowledge of and experience with 21st Century skills and employability profiles
Experience collaborating and monitoring interventions for special populations enrolled in CTE programs
Previous career counseling experience preferred
Certificates, License, Registration:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Counseling Endorsement or Appropriate Counseling Credentials
