    Job Summary: Responsible for scheduling, organizing, and implementing/arranging for implementation of intervention programs to meet the needs of students determined to be eligible for supplemental programming using PPS Title I eligibility criteria. Performs duties in accordance with PPS goals and district practices as well as federal law.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Prepare educational plans for students and groups of students based on individually assessed needs in accordance with best practice, evidence-based research.
    • Determine and maintain flexible schedule for supplemental intervention groups.
    • Coordinate and direct activities of Title I paraprofessionals.
    • Maintain and submit appropriate data, records and reports for students receiving supplemental interventions.
    • Attend and participate in meetings for students receiving supplemental interventions.
    • Participate in continuing professional development activities, including development and maintenance of skills on all research-based supplemental intervention programs, e.g., Direct Instruction, Read Well programs.
    • Develop and maintain communication and ongoing relationship with parents of students receiving supplemental interventions.
    • Ensure that student progress is assessed and data is analyzed on a regular basis. Share student progress data with each student’s general education teacher and parent on at least a quarterly basis.
    • Work with general education staff to coordinate the supplementary intervention system.
    • Work with general education staff to accomplish ongoing program evaluation and therefore ensure that the supplementary intervention system is effective.
    • Work with school psychologist as needed to accomplish more in-depth diagnostic evaluations to determine an appropriate programming for students.
    • Performs other duties as assigned and Title I guidance allows.
    • Regular and consistent attendance.
    • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Portage Public Schools Employee Handbook.

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in elementary education
    • Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in education including coordination of supplementary intervention programming preferred.
    • Master’s in Education preferred.
    • Knowledge about current education research and best practice.
    • Willingness to work within a team setting to develop and maintain best practice supplemental education system.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with district staff and the public.
    • Ability to assume responsibility, display initiative, and exercise good judgment.
    • Proficient computer and document skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
