    Summary
    Instructs high school students through dance and kinesthetic pedagogies; choreographic elements and aesthetic principles through various dance techniques. Furthermore, knowledgeable in terminology /technical elements. However, not limited to: African dance and African Diaspora, Audition skills, Ballet, Ballroom, Breathing and Meditation, Contemporary, Classroom Management, Dance Conditioning, Dance Studio Management, Dance Curriculum Development, Grading and Assessment, Jazz Technique, Mens Ballet, Majorette (HBCU), Modern Dance, Partner Work, Quick Study skills, Tap Dance, and Voice and Movement.
    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Prepares lesson plans and establishes course curriculum goals that may align with District and regional needs/standards.
    • Plans educational activities that reflect transferable techniques and skill sets across the curriculum and content area.
    • Engage students through the use of active, reflective and critical processing across content areas.
    • Development of learning Kinesthetic techniques: organization, re-organization, analyzing, assessing, and evaluating.
    • Leads rehearsals, generates original work of art developed through instructor, guest artists, and students; and produces public formal / informal performances.
    • Oversees/ accompanies students on field trips to art exhibitions and performances.
    • Directs planning and supervision of student audition materials, dance techniques, student contests, and portfolio development.
    • Effectively engages and presents information to community members.
    • May meet / connect with parents & guardians for support and growth of students' needs.
    Minimum Skills and Education Required:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Dance / Music Theatre Performance B.A. / B.F.A. ( preferred)
    • Minimum of 10yrs experience with technical performance work : professional dance, performance, directing, company /studio.
    • Minimum of 5yrs experience with in organizing and producing formal dance showings / performance
    • Minimum of 10 years Choreographer portfolio at high school, collegiate, and professional level.
    • Evidence of continuance of professional development / artistic training / education level
    • Working knowledge of dance history and cultural dance forms / pedagogy.
    • Embraces and supports KRESA Paradigms and philosophies related to diversity, inclusion and anti-bias language and practices.
    • Ability to foster relationships and connections with community members ranging from a wide spectrum of eclectic differences.
    • Ability to assess one’s own strengths and limitations and integrate this understanding into interpersonal connections.
    Preferred Skills and Education:
    Ten years studying African and African Diaspora dance with master teachers of African origin. Ability to select and develop appropriate methods, skills and techniques attuned to people's cultural, multicultural or marginal experiences in their environments. Ability to effectively employ multicultural approaches in resolving problems.
    Physical Demands:

    Office environment with little exposure to excessive noise. Often involved in stressful situations.
