Kaiser Permanente is Hiring a Strategic Sourcing Specialist III Near Livermore, CA

Job Summary:
Executes the sourcing management process by supporting team members in defining the sourcing strategy. Supports the strategic procurement of products and services by performing data gathering and analysis. Evaluates strategic options and participates in the creation of a sourcing strategy. Contributes to the implementation of the sourcing strategy by selecting, negotiating, and recommending awards for sourcing contracts. Supports the continuous improvement of sourcing processes by performing data analysis and stakeholder management.
Essential Responsibilities:

  • Completes work assignments autonomously by applying up-to-date expertise in subject area to generate creative solutions; ensures all procedures and policies are followed; leverages an understanding of data and resources to support projects or initiatives. Collaborates cross-functionally to solve business problems; escalates issues or risks as appropriate; communicates progress and information. Supports, identifies, and monitors priorities, deadlines, and expectations. Identifies, speaks up, and implements ways to address improvement opportunities for team.
  • Supports the continuous improvement of sourcing processes by: analyzing standard and nonstandard operational data and performance metrics to support value optimization of awarded contracts; monitoring and ensuring supplier compliance for standard and nonstandard contract terms, including product/service quality, payment terms, and shipping requirements; and executing the fulfillment of standard and nonstandard stakeholder needs to foster stakeholder relationships.
  • Supports the strategic procurement of goods and services by: monitoring the internal and external environment for trends and practices that can inform standard and nonstandard strategic opportunities; and performing standard and nonstandard market and sourcing analyses to optimize sourcing strategy, supplier selection, and procurement implementation, independently with limited direction.
  • Contributes to the sourcing strategy definition by: supporting standard and nonstandard category profiles, savings plans, targets, and forecasts; and executing standard and nonstandard sourcing, communication, and governance processes.
  • Contributes to the creation of the sourcing strategy by: evaluating options and products/services to develop standard and nonstandard sourcing plans; collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to exchange and interpret information to incorporate input and socialize standard and nonstandard category sourcing strategies/plans; and reporting the results of strategic analyses to inform sourcing strategy creation.
  • Contributes to the implementation of sourcing strategy by: developing and executing requests for proposals and standard bidding documents to generate options; performing standard and nonstandard proposal analyses to inform supplier selection; negotiating standard pricing and contract terms (e.g., delivery, quality, performance) with suppliers, and escalating negotiations when necessary, for products and services to ensure KP receives the best value for dollars spent; assisting in drafting and modification of new business terms in contract documents; analyzing standard and nonstandard options to determine contract awards and socializing recommendations with internal and external stakeholders; and executing implementation plans for sourcing strategy.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in healthcare or another heavily regulated industry (e.g., Banking).
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Material Management, Economics, or related field AND Minimum two (2) years of experience in purchasing, contracting, material management, finance or a directly related field, OR Minimum six (6) years of experience in purchasing, contracting, material management, finance or a directly related field.
