GENERAL SURGEON
South Sacramento, California
We are currently seeking a BC or BE General Surgeon to join our outstanding team at the South Sacramento Medical Center and have a particular need for those candidates with a strong interest or background in Acute Care/Emergency General Surgery.
Qualifications

  • BE or BC General Surgeon
  • Minimally Invasive, Acute Care Surgery, and/or Trauma/Surgical Critical Care training or experience is a plus but not a requirement.
    Responsibilities
  • The surgeon will join our existing team of Acute Care/Emergency General surgeons
  • General Surgery night and weekend call shared equally among department members (on average, 3 nights/month)
  • Participation in resident training/education is required.
    Job Description:

    The Department of Surgery at Kaiser South Sacramento Medical Center is looking to hire a BC/BE General Surgeon to join the Division of General Surgery, where you will join part of a team known for its culture of teamwork, camaraderie, innovation, and excellence. In addition to maintaining a robust Core General Surgery practice, our surgeons currently staff specialty service lines within the division including Emergency General Surgery, Surgical Oncology (with specific emphases on Breast, Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic, Endocrine, and Melanoma), Colorectal Surgery, and Robotics/MIS/Foregut. We work alongside the Divisions of Trauma Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Our department, along with the South Sacramento Medical Center, serves as one of the referral hubs for Kaiser Permanente patients from Northern California and beyond. We are a core training site for residents from the UC Davis Medical Center. Several members of the department are actively engaged and funded in clinical, health services, and delivery science research.
    Our Acute Care/Emergency General Surgery service line is currently staffed by 5 dedicated individuals, with additional participation by other department members, as well. The service provides organized, high quality care to our non-elective patients and is structured to maximize continuity of care. The participating surgeons are supported by 24/7/365 resident coverage, a robust group of Physician Assistants, a fully staffed Wound Care clinic, surgery schedulers, and experienced medical assistants. Care is often provided in partnership with members of our other specialty service lines. The ideal candidate is familiar and comfortable with all facets of core General Surgery, including laparoscopy. Additional training in Minimally Invasive Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, or Surgical Critical Care is a bonus but is not required. The opportunity to establish a significant elective practice is readily available for interested candidates.

    Full-time annual salary range is $380,040 to $392,040 plus additional potential incentives up to $84,000*.
