PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Terminal Supervisor, performs a variety of terminal and transportation activities for the Fuel Terminal facility. Responsible to perform their duties in accordance with Company Policy, Safety Requirements and in compliance with Governmental Regulations. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs terminal maintenance to include, but not limited to correction of mechanical problems at the load rack, correction of mechanical problems with petroleum tank brodie valves, gauging devices and alarm systems, correction of mechanical problems within terminal pipeline system, and coordinator of outside assistance in repair of facility equipment, when necessary.

  • Functions as a member of the 24-hour on-call Terminal Oil Spill Response Team.

  • Receives/transfers products by pipeline and ship/barge.

  • Has full understanding of pipeline configuration.

  • Coordinates products “flushes”.

  • Monitors flow rate into tanks.

  • Manual gauging of tanks.

  • Hourly gauging/leak checks.

  • Has understanding of HI & HI-HI alarm system.

  • Uses basic math to compute tank capacity.

  • Ensures safe and efficient receipt of product.

  • Performs accurate facility testing to include, but not limited to assists contractor with pipeline pressure testing, assists contractor with load rack meter calibration, pull samples for delivery truck tank testing, monthly RVP (Reid Vapor Pressure) testing, and assures additive compliance.

  • 24-hour on-call trouble response.

  • Identifies emergency matters and notifies principal (s), as necessary.

  • Performs truck washing and janitorial duties as assigned. 

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Terminal Superintendent.

  • Performs general house keeping duties to include, but not limited to, janitorial duties, weed control, load rack cleanliness, pavement upkeep, etc.

  • Performs routine security rounds throughout the facility.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Performs basic arithmetic and other mathematical calculations.

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Hazardous material training.

  • Ensures safe and efficient receipt and shipping of hazardous material with full authority to stop and prevent an unsafe act. 

Education/Training:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • College preferred 

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Interacts with outside pipeline/marine companies. Demonstrates independent judgment and good organization of work assignment.

  • Demonstrates independent judgment and good organization or work assignment.

  • Demonstrates the importance of professionalism.

  • Good ability to interact well with all levels or employees, customers, contractors and management. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and is not afraid of heights.

  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, handling, use of corrected vision, depth perception, wide field of vision, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, use of hand eye coordination, color vision.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years' experience as a Terminal Operator preferred.
