Kaeppel Consulting is seeking a Director of Operations for a reputable client in Kansas City, KS. As the Director of Operations for our regional trucking company, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing, scaling, and growing our operations. You will be responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance, and implementing strategies to drive growth and profitability. This position requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the transportation industry, and the ability to effectively motivate our operations team. This is a Direct Hire position, an Onsite role in Kansas City, KS.

1. Operational Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations, including dispatch, fleet management, driver scheduling, and customer service.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and best practices to improve efficiency, minimize costs, and maximize profitability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including DOT regulations, safety standards, and environmental regulations.

2. Fleet Management:

  • Manage the company's fleet of trucks, trailers, and equipment, including maintenance, repairs, and acquisitions.
  • Optimize fleet utilization and routing to minimize empty miles and maximize productivity.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and safety of the fleet.

3. Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate a team of operations staff, drivers, and support personnel.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide coaching and feedback, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where team members are empowered to contribute their ideas and expertise.

4. Customer Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering reliable service, resolving issues promptly, and exceeding customer expectations.

5. Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the operational budget, monitor expenses, and identify opportunities to reduce costs and increase profitability.
  • Analyze financial data and operational performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with the finance team to develop forecasts, financial reports, and strategic plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in operations management within the transportation or logistics industry, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with employees, customers, and vendors.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in using transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant software tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
