K-VA-T Food Stores Inc is Hiring a Low Voltage Technician Near Kingsport, TN

Job Summary: The Low Voltage Technician Level I/II/III is responsible for the support of the maintenance, installation, and repair of low voltage systems and equipment used in retail stores, offices, warehouses, and 3rd party businesses.

Work Location: 

This position requires travel to various store locations throughout an assigned area.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Take ownership of the low voltage systems in K-VA-T facilities and 3rd party businesses becoming a proactive partner of the systems in his/her assigned facilities.
  • Running, pulling, terminating, splicing, diagnosing, and maintaining all aspects of the low voltage cable systems including but not limited to CAT5, CAT6, Fiber Optic.
  • Install connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, racks, backboards, and patch panels.
  • Install, diagnose, and maintain routers, switches, and support structures including ladder racks, network racks/cabinets, j-hooks, and TV trapeze using information provided by appropriate engineers/contacts/senior technicians/knowledge.
  • Install new and remove old equipment and associated low voltage systems as needed for new stores, remodels, upgrades and 3rd party businesses.
  • Conceive and help develop procedures and strategies that can be adopted companywide for improved performance, reduced downtime, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain all records necessary for government and company purposes by interpreting and verifying service orders, specifications, drawings, schematics, special requirements and instructions.
  • Maintain customer rapport by providing updates, listening, and resolving issues, answer questions or escalate to senior employees for resolution if required.
  • Install or maintain existing fire stopping in conduits, trays, wall/ceiling/floor penetrations.
  • Provide accurate time/work logs and notes.
  • Occasional overnight travel within K-VA-T Food Stores, Inc's geographic region to service new construction, store remodels, etc.

Job Qualifications:

Required:

  • Level I: 0 to 2 years’ experience in low voltage and/or electrical systems installation and maintenance but will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Level II: 3 to 5 years’ experience in low voltage and/or electrical systems installation and maintenance but will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Level III: Minimum 6 years’ experience in low voltage and/or electrical systems installation and maintenance but will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • U.S. citizen or valid work permit.
  • Must pass background check, physical exam, and drug screen.
