Job Summary: K&T Security is seeking an Armed Certified and Licensed Security Guard to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patrons, staff, and assets. This position requires the ability to respond to potential threats or incidents, ensure compliance with policies, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform regular patrols of premises, both indoors and outdoors, to prevent unauthorized access and detect any suspicious activities.
2. Monitor security systems, including but not limited to CCTV cameras, alarms, and access control systems, to identify potential security breaches.
3. Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance, providing appropriate intervention and resolution.
4. Maintain a visible presence to deter potential security threats and foster a sense of safety for visitors and staff.
5. Enforce library policies and regulations, ensuring compliance with library rules and procedures.
6. Provide exceptional customer service by assisting library visitors with directions, general inquiries, and related matters.
7. Prepare and submit detailed incident reports, documenting any security-related incidents, accidents, or unusual activities observed during patrols.
8. Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and other emergency response teams as necessary.
9. Stay updated on the latest security practices, procedures, and trends to enhance knowledge and skills related to the position.
10. Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs to maintain certifications and licenses required for the role.

Qualifications:

1. Must possess a valid armed security guard certification and license in the state of Maryland.
2. High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional relevant certifications or education in criminal justice or a related field are preferred.
3. Proven experience as a security guard, preferably in a library or similar environment, is highly desirable.
4. Knowledge of security operations, emergency response protocols, and public safety practices.
5. Excellent observation skills and the ability to identify potential security risks or threats.
6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals, including library patrons, staff, and law enforcement personnel.
7. Proficiency in using security equipment, such as CCTV systems and access control systems.
8. Physical fitness and stamina to perform regular patrols and respond quickly to emergency situations.
9. Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally, maintaining composure under pressure.
10. Must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
