Position Description:

The contractor shall primarily support military service members and their family members at AMR, MPC, Wheeler, Helemano Military Reservation

(HMR) Chapels. The Chapels are located:

SOUTH:

  • AMR Chapel 1790 Bougainville Loop, Aliamanu Military Reservation, Family Housing, Honolulu, Hawaii

NORTH:

  • MPC Chapel 790 McCornack Road, Schofield Barracks, HI 96857
  • Wheeler Chapel Bldg. 679, Wheeler Army Airfield, HI Chapel, WAAF 96786
  • HMR Chapel 173 Romero Rd, Building #25, Wahiawa, HI, HI 96786

This is NOT a full-time job with a standard 0900-1700, Monday through Friday work environment. Workdays and hours will vary according to the approved Calendar of Events, tasks, and the times of meetings. Many of the tasks require evening and weekend hours, and the client will partner with the contractor to determine what core hours are necessary.

You will have access to the chapels and office facilities during normal duty hours, 0900-1600, Monday through Friday. These hours are contingent upon chapel staff availability and coordination with key control officers for building access on weekends or holidays.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate Religious Education Programs for Protestant Communities (North & South)· Monitor and support volunteer leaders, teachers, and students participating in weekly Sunday school, children’s church, AWANA, PWOC, MoPS, Navigators, etc. · Provides ongoing support and resources for all elements of the Protestant Religious education programs.o Support includes:§ 1. research, order, and distribute curriculum materials and supplies for each class§ 2. registration of children and participants§ 3. assist with Protestant-specific aspects of adult & Family religious’ education (Protestant women of the Chapel, Mothers of Preschoolers, Youth of the Chapel, Children’s church, AWANA, etc.)§ 4. Plan and prepare all materials/supplies for weekly Protestant RE programs including: student/teacher packets, crafts, literature, video resources and equipment§ 5. Prepare and distribute supplies for all RE programs to include: student packets, parent letters§ 6. Coordinate academic calendar with the Director Religious Education, the Catholic REC and the Sr. Chaplain.· Support four events for the Youth of the Chapel for various age groups. Prepare publicity and purchase coordination that supports the events. Reserve facility or space for each event and ensure the event is on the chapel calendar. Provide set up and tear down. (Typically, events are one day)· Prepare and execute four seasonal events as directed by the Director of Religious Education; Advent, Lent, Back to School, and Volunteer Recognition.· Plan and execute family religious education as directed by the Director of Religious Education.

Coordinate, plan, prepare and participate in Vacation Bible School· Recruit, train, monitor, and support all volunteers who assist with the annual week-long Summer Vacation Bible School. This is a nondenominational event. Children from all faith groups are invited and encouraged to attend.

  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers who assist with Religious Education programs. When using volunteers who will work with children, recruit at least two (2) adult volunteers for each group.
  • All volunteers working with children must meet Army Directives, Policies, and Regulations regarding required training and background checks.

Annual volunteer training includes Orientation, Safe Environment, Leadership Summit, and Program-specific training.
