Position Overview: As a Retail Sales/Stocking Associate at K&B True Value, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient operation of our full service hardware store. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks including working freight, operating the point of sale (POS) system, assisting customers at the paint counter and service desk, filling propane tanks, as well as providing carry out and loading services to customers. A successful candidate for this position will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for providing top-notch customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers and provide them with expert assistance in locating and selecting products within the store.
• Maintain a neat and organized sales floor by restocking shelves, facing merchandise, and ensuring accurate pricing.
• Receive and process incoming shipments, ensuring that all merchandise is properly labeled, stocked, and stored.
• Operate the POS system accurately and efficiently to process customer transactions, handle cash, credit, and debit transactions.
• Assist customers at the paint counter by mixing paint, matching colors, and providing guidance on various painting projects.
• Support customers at the service desk by answering questions, processing returns, exchanges, and resolving any issues promptly.
• Fill propane tanks for customers in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Provide exceptional carry out and loading services to customers, ensuring their purchases are securely and safely loaded into their vehicles.
• Conduct regular price checks, update pricing labels or tags as needed, and ensure accurate pricing throughout the store.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the store, including sweeping, dusting, and general housekeeping tasks.

Skills Required:

• Previous experience in retail or customer service role preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively assist customers and work collaboratively with team members.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet to address customer needs and resolve issues.
• Basic computer literacy and familiarity with operating a point of sale (POS) system.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects, carry out and load merchandise into customer vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of hardware and home improvement products is a plus.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
