Notice: JWCH is offering this position a hybrid work environment, allowing for a flexible blend of in-office and remote work for LCSW professionals. Additionally, we are pleased to offer a one-time bonus of $7500 after one year of service, contingent upon successful performance evaluations and meeting performance expectations. Position Purpose:

Elevate your career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) at the vibrant Los Angeles City College, where you'll embark on an exciting journey to provide dynamic behavioral health services for college-age students and older adults returning to education. In this role, you'll spearhead crisis intervention, deliver both brief and long-term counseling, engage in case management, facilitate triage, and establish vital linkages to social services, housing resources, and other essential support systems. Your role will encompass adherence to all behavioral health contract requirements, ensuring excellence in staffing, scope of work, documentation, utilization of funding, staff productivity, and, most importantly, patient satisfaction. Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborates with school-based staff and counselors to assist in screening and providing brief evaluation, crisis intervention and ongoing counseling as required.
  2. Conduct functional and strength-based assessment along with comprehensive diagnosis for mental health, substance abuse, trauma, and psychosocial needs.
  3. Develop student care plans that are coordinated and integrated with a comprehensive range of medical and psychosocial services to address social, emotional, and practical needs.
  4. Provide psychotherapy, counseling, medical case management and psycho-education utilizing individual, family, and group modalities using evidence-based interventions for patients and their significant others that include social, emotional, and practical life skills to facilitate safe coping, distress tolerance, stress reduction, mindfulness, and relaxation as well as access to necessary resources with the goal of improved functioning and positive health outcomes.
  5. Utilize both short-term and intensive longer-term interventions, as approved by funding source that target trauma, mental health symptoms, increase psychosocial functioning and reduction of substance use.
  6. Interventions are client centered; strength based, and identified based on a comprehensive treatment plan that is developed, after completing a thorough biopsychosocial assessment.
  7. Consult with primary care providers to enhance understanding of the patient, provide support for treatment approaches that incorporate behavioral health needs, and assist with implementation of bio-psychosocial treatment and care plans.
  8. Work with ECM Case Management staff to coordinate care and provide referrals, coordinate services and reduce barriers.
  9. Participates in weekly case conferences with LACC staff and Wesley staff to assist in problem solving related to patients and to ensure that professional guidance and high-quality case management services are being provided.
  10. Participates in LACC and community meetings pertaining to the needs of LACC students.
  11. Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings that are held weekly in the clinics.
  12. Be available as assigned to provide after-hours emergency psychiatric assistance.
  13. Provide phone consultation as needed
  14. Complete all charting as required by LACC as well as that required by JWCH, including assessments, progress notes, care plans, and billing documentation
  15. Assist with provider education for integrated behavioral and primary care services
  16. Participate in behavioral health quality assurance/improvement activities to maintain and strengthen standards of care, in accordance with the organization CQI Plan
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. Master’s degree in social work, social welfare, psychology, marriage, family and child counseling, and or marriage and family therapy from an accredited college or university.
  2. Prefer LCSW with current California BBS license.
  3. Strong desire and documented experience working with College students, many are older adults returning to college as well as unhousing or at high risk of being unhoused.
  4. Experience /knowledge in human, social, and/or behavioral health services, especially college who may be young adults low-income underserved individuals
  5. Demonstrated understanding of the impact of trauma informed care, person centered care and behavioral and medical conditions impacting this population
  6. Knowledgeable of evidence-based treatments (DBT, CBT, Seeking Safety, Motivational Interviewing)
  7. Knowledge of principles, procedures, methods and techniques of mental health emergency procedures such as: 5150, CPS reporting, APS reporting, and Tarasoff reporting.
  8. Experience working with substance abuse disorders, preferred
  9. Experience working in a medical setting preferred/ Bilingual (English/Spanish) ability needed

Note:

If you become a JWCH provider, you may be able to participate in Loan Repayment Program. A majority of our clinics are NHSC approved sites. The National Health Service Corp may be accepting applications Loan Repayment Program awards. The program is open to licensed primary care medical, dental, and mental and behavior health providers who are employed or have accepted an offer of employment at an NHSC-approved site. Awardees receive up to $50,000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 14 above (Tier I). Awardees can also receive up to $30,0000 in exchange for two years of service if they practice in a HPSA of 13 and below (Tier II). You will need to contact National Health Service Corp to apply and receive more information. Upon acceptance, you are encouraged to apply to National Health Service Corp for Loan Repayment Program.
