Juvenile Justice Center of Philadelphia is Hiring a Counselor, Aftercare Evening Reporting Center (AERC) Near Philadelphia, PA

We are seeking a Counselor for our Aftercare Evening Reporting Center! The Juvenile Justice Center Aftercare Evening Reporting Center (AERC) is a resource for justice involved youth between the ages of 16-20 who are in need of successfully completing terms of probation following a juvenile placement or to prevent re-placement in the juvenile justice system. This community-based program is designed to provide youth with daily group and individual case management. Programming focuses on life skills, educational and employment coaching, community service opportunities, pro-social activities, access to and linkages to behavioral health & drug and alcohol services. All of our services are designed to equip our participants with the needed resources to remain arrest free and to prevent further involvement with the juvenile justice system.

What you’ll be doing:

The AERC Counselor is an integral member of the AERC team. The AERC Counselor will provide support to assist the youth with successful completion of term probation and prevent placement. The Counselor is responsible for the completion of initial intake assessments, individual case plans, court summaries and other reports related to the youth. The Counselor may facilitate and/or co-facilitate group sessions on life skills, decision-making, and other topics consistent with Pennsylvania’s Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) model. The Counselor may also participate with youth in community service events, and encourage youth participation. They will interact with youth, maintaining close contact and develop a positive rapport during programming.

The Counselor will work primarily in the late afternoons and evenings, specifically during the school year and on some weekends to provide maximum involvement with identified youth.

Qualified candidates for this position must:

· Possess a master’s degree in human services, preferably social work or counseling.

· Possess two years’ experience in family-based social work.

· Understanding of educational, child welfare, and judicial systems and the knowledge, skills, and ability to navigate these systems successfully.

· Have the ability to provide a clear Criminal background check, child sex abuse check, ACT 31/126 clearance, physical, and FBI fingerprint

· Possess valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
