Jupiter Marine International is Hiring a Laminators Near Palmetto, FL

The Laminator works in the Lamination Department and is one of the first key positions in the boat building process. The Laminator applies coats of resin to fiberglass to manufacture boat hulls, consoles, liners, and hatches. They may grind, repair and clean fiberglass boat molds prior to assembly in boats by using hand tools and portable power tools. The Laminator is also responsible for fixing scratches on the molds, cleaning fiberglass parts, applying resin and gelcoat, and sanding and buffing. They are accountable for parts inspection and understand fiberglass finish or basic use of abrasives. 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Observe all Company Policies.
  • Comply fully with all Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Inspect boat molds and fiberglass parts to detect defective areas. 
  • Clean fiberglass parts prior to applying gelcoat.
  • Apply coats of resin and fiberglass to first skin of material.
  • Apply resin with roller and brush to fiberglass materials.
  • Grind, sand, and repair fiberglass parts as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and assignments in Lamination Department as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must always follow all Safety Policies and Procedures, including chemical handling standards and proper use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Understand and follow verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to use hand tools, buffer, and abrasive sanding tools/supplies.
  • Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect.
  • Ability to work cautiously but efficiently.
  • Experience working with resin, fiberglass and gelcoat is preferred. Additional training will be provided.

  • Physical Demands - Standing, walking, reaching, bending, twisting, ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching. 
  • Working Conditions – Inside, outside; conditions can be somewhat weather-dependent ranging from hot in the summertime to cold in the winter.
  • Exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles which requires the use of proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Personal Protective (PPE) requirements including safety goggles/eye protection, hearing protection, non-slip shoes, gloves, protective suits, dusts masks and respirators.
