About the role:

Juniper is an innovative lighting technology, design, and manufacturing company seeking a dedicated CNC / Fabrication Lead to join our growing team in Southington, CT. In this position, you will play a key role in producing Juniper’s unique, innovative lighting solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for programming, machine set-up, and oversight of the operation of CNC lathes and mills, industrial routers, and other machinery used to fabricate existing and new components. Oversees the fabrication team to ensure manufacturing plans are met. We are looking for someone with a team player attitude and advanced skills who can work with various machines. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages area metrics and provides regular reporting; assists with problem-solving in own and adjacent departments.
  • Creates or specifies required tools and fixtures to support fabrication operations for new product manufacturing or improvements to existing products.
  • Responsible for scheduling jobs, assigning tasks, and ensuring on-time delivery of all work orders routed through the department.
  • Works closely with Engineering in the development of new product design to ensure manufacturability and process efficiency goals are met.
  • Communicates regularly with other departments on job status and issues.
  • Capable of applying skill set to implement creative solutions and solve mechanical issues.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, properly equipped, and professionally run machine shop; ensures all equipment is maintained correctly and meets safety requirements.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • A machine shop or machine tool technology/machinist certificate or equivalent education and experience are required.
  • Minimum ten years’ experience in CNC programming, machining, and tool making.
  • Proven experience operating CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools
  • Excellent understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrammed instructions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Maintains a continuous improvement mindset to reduce non-value-added activities and optimize processes and part designs.
